    Liquidity of S&P (e-mini) options?

Thanks, elon. I just realized that I can see bid/ask for the S&P cash options by going to cboe.com. The one thing I would still like to see is bid/ask for S&P (not e-mini) futures options. If you could provide a sample or two live quotes tomorrow, I would be much obliged. Perhaps at-the...

    Liquidity of S&P (e-mini) options?

Thats what I was hoping to get from this thread :) i.e. I want someone to tell me what the spreads are and how the liquidity is. e.g. anyone who cares to post some data, the S&P is about 1223 now. what is the bid/ask for the SP june or july 1220,1225,1235 and 1250 call (and puts in the other...

    Liquidity of S&P (e-mini) options?

Thanks for the response, I was looking at the e-mini rather than the SP because somehow I had the impression that the e-mini was more liquid.. Are you saying that the e-mini is less liquid than the big SP? If so, I will start looking at the big SP! I am mainly concerned with the options...

    Liquidity of S&P (e-mini) options?

I am looking into futures and futures options (mainly S&P E-mini). I've been looking at http://www.cme.com/cgi-bin/prices.cgi?prices/g_ez.html for options prices. but I can't see the bid/ask, just the last trade price.. So I was wondering how large the spreads tend to be (especially as you go...

Why the ES Jun Sep difference

Beginner futures question.. I was looking at the free quotes @ http://64.240.85.226/q/eq.htm and the June contract is 1256.25 x 1257.50, but the Sep contract is 1266.50 x 1267.00. Why the difference? I thought the futures had no time premium.. Do the futures roll over early or something?

    Offshore Trading

It looks like I spoke too soon.. I had heard that Puerto Rican residents pay no federal income tax, and that is true. However, they have their own tax system. I looked into it a little and found that their system is similar to the mainland, with deductions, etc. For individuals the rate is...

    Seeking advice on Options

If you exercise the option, you also have the risk of holding the stock. Especially if you let the option get exercised via expiration (automatic for options 0.75 in-the-money at expiration), you hold the risk of carrying the stock over the weekend. Also, if you sell the option before...

List of stocks per option exchange?

Anyone know where I can find a list of exchanges where a given stock option trades? e.g. Given stock XYZ I want to know which exchanges XYZ options trade on. (PHLX, CBOE, AMEX, PSE, ISE).

    Over educated.

I used to use mbtrading.com (several years ago) when I was daytrading. They have an intro $5 commission per trade for the first month or two, but it sounds like you are trading 1k or more shares.. I think the commission is $20 or so (check their site) for normal 1k-2k lots. Even a $30...

    extra-short term (1-7 days) options

exactly right.. I know they are raping their customers with the spread, which is why I am trying to figure out how to do the same thing with normal options and futures. What I can't figure out is how to do the shorter term "bets." e.g. there is a "double up" contract where you nearly double...

    extra-short term (1-7 days) options

I'm trying to figure out how these "market casinos" hedge themselves when they sell 1 to 14-day contracts. I set up a virtual money acct at xodds.com, but I doubt I would ever use real money there because of their high commissions/spreads. Anyway, I'm looking right now, and you can buy a...

    Paper Trading

z, I agree that liquidity and volume often go hand in hand, along with tighter spreads, but I think liquidity means a little more than that. Liquidity basically refers to how much you can buy or sell without affecting the market. That's why big funds like liquid stocks -- they can get into...

    Options.

credit spreads are a personal favorite of mine. The ROI is often 20%-40% for a 3 to 4-week period (but don't put all your eggs in one basket). Balanced against the maximum loss, you have to be right 60% to 80% of the time. I am currently looking into bearish call credit spreads above gapped...

    Get a job?

First of all, I don't trade for a living (maybe some day). I made decent % return last year, but haven't traded really at all this year (too much to do at work). Anyway, my opinion is that when your bills depend on your trading, it's a completely different story. Ever see someone on "who...

short term trading in IRA + early withdrawal as tax advantage

white17, I assume you are talking about taking the corporation route.. I am open to suggestions for losses/expenses to take! Say I start a home-based business. What do I claim its purpose is? Say I make 5k the first year.. what do I claim as expenses/losses to offset that 5k gain? I'm...

short term trading in IRA + early withdrawal as tax advantage

In fact, several firms allow complex options strategies in your IRA. optionsxpress.com is one of them. There is another called Benjamin and Jerrold. look here: http://elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=505 The problem I am trying to address is that every year you have to pay taxes on...
