can someone tell me what happened here? IB

I used a market order on 20 different stocks at around 12:59:45 PM on the west coast, or 15 seconds before the market closed. The Time In Force used is "day" and parameter "sweep to fill" was also on. Almost all of my fills were 1/4 to 1 pct away from the market price. For example, HON...

help needed with IB commission structure

Thanks for the replies. I've changed over to unbundled. I'm pretty incompetent at these things. NASDAQ stocks look pretty expensive to trade.

help needed with IB commission structure

I couldn't figure out what an island NASDAQ fee is. Can anyone help? I have averaged about 3.2 million shares per month for the last 5.5 month since I've started using IB. So pretty much if I switch to Unbundled, I will get to pay 0.002 + exchange fees instead of 0.005. In the examples...

CDs in countrywide bank, are they safe?

What are the chances that countrywide will pull an Indymac here? I really want to pull my CDs (for sum greater than FDIC insured) after the recent failures of Indymac. My CDs expire on 09/10. Pull them out now, or later?

Losing motivation - the daily grind

Been trading seriously over a year and a half now, have made it a full time job. It just isn't fun as it used to be. I don't even get excited watching the markets open. Social life is deteriorating. The everyday grind is overbearing. I don't have energy / motivation left to go out, like...

    Why not use TD Ameritrade?

sorry i didnt make it clear. tdameritrade doesn't update margin on a real time basis. you only have a certain amount of buying power per day, and if you use it up, you cannot make any more daytrades. with IB, theoretically, you can make infinite number of daytrades as long as you are not over...

Should you focus on one stock?

it would be a problem on the days your stock doesnt move.

    Why not use TD Ameritrade?

yEAH 4 to 1 intraday margins, you can buy and sell an amount equal to your account value 4 times, or less if you carry margin overnight. but everytime you make a trade, the "day trading buying power" goes down, until it is 0, then you cannot buy and sell anymore. so it is not possible...

    Why not use TD Ameritrade?

the way they calculate margin does not favor day traders. if you use your whole account to long spy, then sell it 5 minutes later, you can only buy spy one more time that day before you run out of margin. the margin is not calculated realtime like IB/ scottrade.
