    CL Redux

CL has broken through yesterday's low of the day when it passed 94.74. It looks like the market profile would suggest a move down to 93.41 (if I am reading that right). Any thoughts on what the low of the day will be? My guess is 93.74.

    CL Redux

Not a chart, but http://www.cfr.org/economics/katrina-oil-prices/p8834 It mentions that oil spiked to $70/barrel before Bush announced release of SPR.

Maybe Bernanke letter to Issa. Really just repeated Fed minutes from 7/31, IMHO.

    CL Redux

With inventories down and fed suggesting further easing, I expected a much bigger move from CL. Has all of this been priced in? Is everyone in the Hamptons? I try to have no directional bias, but it looks like a major sign of weakness for CL to me. Any thoughts?

Why Is The Not So Obvious Obvious?

I wasted about two hours of my life reading that thread (which is now over 500 posts). I learned nothing. I think that thread should come with a warning. After a few hundred messages, the OP starts writing like Dr. Seuss. Really! So, sorry, I'm of no help, but at least I'm brief about it.

Is it the anticipation of the FOMC meeting that has caused volume to disappear?

    CL Redux

CLM12 It looks like a simple pullback in a trend based off of increase in inventories. Short at 103.12, looking for about 102.90, stop loss at 103.30.

Paying Your Employees So Little That Most Of Them Are Poor?

As others have pointed out, poor is a relative term. As such, it is impossible to eradicate poverty. Just as it is to eliminate the bottom 10% of students or the bottom 10% of runners. Someone has to finish the race last. Someone has to be the slowest, someone has to be the fastest. It is...

Random idea, does this already exist?

Motley Fool has a caps rating that sort of mimics your idea. The question is whether you would use it straight or as a contrary indicator. Have you ever looked at the AAII survey? http://www.aaii.com/sentimentsurvey This survey is read as a contrary indicator but in fact, it is right until...

    The Bankruptcy of NFLX (Netflix)

There are 85,287,100 broadband users in the U.S. See http://www.internetworldstats.com/am/us.htm Netflix has 24.4 million paid subscribers. See http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/story/2012-01-25/netflix-earnings-subscribers/52792788/1 Given this level of market penetration, I think...

Getting started with a Prop Firm (My experience - ongoing!) Lake Street Trading

I am enjoying your posting very much. Thank you for contributing. How is the trading going? Are you directionally trading stocks? Margin is great if you are profitable, it will blow out your account quicker if you are not. Best of luck.

SPX up 9 times or 82% of the time so far in January

Bulls go up the stairs and bears go out the window (a metaphor explaining that stock prices rise slowly and drop quickly) 2/3 of a month is a poor sample size. The trend is your friend until the end. etc.

How to structure trade for inverse indices

I'm not sure if anyone answered your question. I would consider doing either bull put spreads or bear call spreads on both instruments (depending on your view of the underlying). It would like a lot like an iron condor, with an advantage that as the instrument's spread reverts to the mean, the...

    General Margin Questions

I had some of the same concerns, and this is what I've learned. Early exercise on option credit spreads is real, although uncommon. First off, when you are exercised, CONGRATULATIONS. That means that YOU have gained all of the time premium which existed in the option when you sold it...

Buffett to Republicans: if you pay, so will I

If Buffett were to extend his preference for regressive taxation to his voluntary tax offer, he would have to contribute 4% or 6% (or more) of his wealth for every say, 2% of the Congressman's net worth contributed. That would at least be intellectually honest and consistent with his politics.
