    The Brexit Trade...

This is the first time I'm hearing this. If you are correct (it does make sense) then this is all overblown. But then again that's par for the course...

    The Brexit Trade...

You and everybody else, lol. The bookies had "leave" at 12-1 late this afternoon. Now it's 11-8. Whoever took the 12-1 is feeling pretty good right now. "Leave" is in the lead, but the London votes are just coming in, and they are expected to vote "stay". Will be very close...

    The Brexit Trade...

Good going. Maybe just sell half and let the rest ride a few days. I expect the downward pressure to persist a few days. There is no catalyst for the market right now...

    The Brexit Trade...

The market should go down for a few days here. Tomorrow would be a bit early to commit cash. No August 24 opening here. You need margin selling to get a repeat of the August 24 opening. You're not going to get margin selling when the starting point is a few points from an all-time high on the S&P.

    The Brexit Trade...

To be fair, they are getting a month's worth of rain in 3 hours. Also, ironically, the storms are coming from Europe rather than the Atlantic. Anyway, the polls are now closed, and the preliminary tally is 52% Bremain. The S&P 500 is right around the 2121 level after-hours, which is the June...

    The Brexit Trade...

The rally to 2113 at the close made me get started right away. Bought the unleveraged short S&P 500 at the close. I'll enter the triple leveraged position if we pop to 2120 at Friday's open. No way a Bremain will push the S&P to an all-time high, which is a mere 20 points away. Market is headed...

    The Brexit Trade...

I firmly agree. Classic case of sell the news is forthcoming. However, I do think there will be a momentary pop at the open that may take the S&P to the 2120 resistance level, at which point I will buy the Ultrashort S&P ETF.

What can I do about insider trading activity in stock options that cause financial harm?

For both of you, as well as anyone else who may be interested, here is what I found so far, as I managed to speak to SEC counsel regarding the procedures and process for remedy. SEC handles the crime only. SEC reviews the complaint and can decide to bring litigation and subpoena. It then...

What can I do about insider trading activity in stock options that cause financial harm?

Funny you said that, because I was thinking the same thing. 8 pages of discussion about that trade, but one line referencing my actual question...the first line. But the people on this site are informed and experienced, and the dialogue is typically professional. That's why I love this site.

What can I do about insider trading activity in stock options that cause financial harm?

In terms of stocks, yes, trading frequently enriches your broker, not you. It sounds like you're impatient. I have a buddy like that. He buys when he should be selling, he sells when he should be buying...because he lacks patience. And he regrets it afterward. When I started trading nearly 30...

What can I do about insider trading activity in stock options that cause financial harm?

That's what I estimated. The volume at the time I participated shows 200, so $64,000 profit on those alone. Nice hit. There wasn't much open interest, so short covering isn't likely. As you note, many traders have to exit their positions come expiration. This actually makes for terrific...

What can I do about insider trading activity in stock options that cause financial harm?

It means that I make my living selling options, and net-net it has been extremely lucrative for me. That's what it means. If I worked for a firm, no, I wouldn't get smacked in the head, lol. They'd be giving me bonuses. Not complaining at all. I merely posted for insight on regulatory process...

What can I do about insider trading activity in stock options that cause financial harm?

I haven't complained even once. The only hack here is you. This is Elite Trader. You're in the wrong place. Go back to the Yahoo boards where you belong, troll!

What can I do about insider trading activity in stock options that cause financial harm?

I don't think JackRab was talking solely about shorting, but shorting is tough. The biggest force going against you is that the long-term trend of the market is up. I only short during periods of historically weak market seasonality. But even then, some stocks resist the downtrend and hold up...

What can I do about insider trading activity in stock options that cause financial harm?

I thought you had a change of heart after your first rude off-the-wall comment, and, being the nice guy that I am, I welcomed you back. But there you go again. I'm far from a victim in the game of option selling. Let me be clear on that. You have absolutely no idea. MOVE ALONG.

What can I do about insider trading activity in stock options that cause financial harm?

You want evidence for what claims? And where do you come up with saying that I "need to come to ET to understand market microstructure and insider trading"? I came here to get insight on regulatory process. Nothing more. This turned into a lengthy discussion with a lot of parties, but the first...

What can I do about insider trading activity in stock options that cause financial harm?

"Next to impossible" is an exaggeration. But I have had occasions where I sold options to an inside trader and, fortunately, still had the options expire worthless. It's still concerning when it happens. It's not where a seller wants to be. You can usually sense it developing. That's why I left...

What can I do about insider trading activity in stock options that cause financial harm?

Great articles! Thanks for posting them. I love the first few lines of the first article: "As I may have mentioned over and over and over and over and over again, the first rule of insider trading is just don't insider trade, but the second rule is: If you have inside information about an...

What can I do about insider trading activity in stock options that cause financial harm?

Thanks for the insights. Good points. Believe it or not, it doesn't come up often at all. And on the few occasions I've seen it, the buyer typically misses the strike by a dollar and a day. And I suppose it can't really happen, at least in the manner of this scenario, once or twice a month. If...

What can I do about insider trading activity in stock options that cause financial harm?

Actually, it IS a lot. Especially on this small-cap name. And it was the 30 put. More than 10% OTM with 1 day to expire on a stock trading in a small range all week. Buyer(s) never even attempted to post the minimum bid. That is not normal. Even a novice can see that these purchases were "highly...
