    Programmer Question

Trying to break it up into pieces and hiring separate people to work on it will be nearly impossible, how are you going to test the whole thing? Not providing input values.. again, how are you going to test it? Also keep in mind that your strategy will evolve over time, as you think of...

Leap put protection for covered call

You're taking on so much risk anyway, you might as well just write naked puts. I mean, if you're going to pay $2 for a 5 strike put, then try to pick up the crumbs with covered calls every month, you're in for a rude awakening. BAC is buying CFC in the next few months. If it falls through...

    Programmer Question

You keep em compensated well enough to stay with you. I mean, it's either that or you have to have someone program it w/o knowing the strategy, which is going to be pretty fucking hard.

    Yhoo..

Right, this was a $19 stock before the offer. But historically, after a company has a buyout offer, even if that offer is pulled and has little to no chance of coming back, the stock still stays elevated. I just don't think being long volatility is profitable. Any YHOO decline from this point...

    Option Question

Misinformation! Selling a naked put is not anywhere CLOSE to the same thing as buying calls. (except that both positions result in you being long delta). You have opposite positions on all the other risks. A naked put makes you short gamma, long theta, and short vega vs a long call makes you...

What's ICE's policy for trade breaks?

    Yhoo..

If he wins control of the board, he can do plenty, such as force a sale of the company. That's only IF he wins though. If he loses, then there's really not much he can do. If he loses the board battle, any victory is going to take a long time, and by the end of it, it'll be a Pyhrric victory...

    Yhoo..

If you're banking on Icahn to dump his position, there's a few flaws with that strategy. - He only has 9.9MM shares, which given the volume in the past few days, is insignificant. - The remainder of his position is in long calls and short puts. I'm not sure where his calls are struck, but I...

    Yahoo vs Msft

This time I'm betting against Ichan. I bet with him on motorola, we all saw how that one turned out. (I actually think MOT is good value right now.. but that's largely due to the fact that it's dropped 1/2 it's market value since Ichan got involved)

    Yhoo..

Yang won't accept $1000 / share. He doesn't want to sell the company. If Ichan gets control of the board though, anything can happen. There's enough angry shareholders who support Ichan right now, so I most likely would not want to hold a position through the shareholder meeting.

    Yhoo..

What do you guys think about YHOO? I personally think it's going to float around the mid to high 20s until the shareholder meeting. Shorting June volatility seems like a good play right now. I got a fill today on 2 contracts of the 27 1/2 calls @ 1.7, so nothing big. I think YHOO will...

Is there a faster way to get economic reports than CNBC or Bloomberg Channels

Well, a Bloomberg Terminal is very timely in reporting. ECO < GO > gets you stuff like housing/jobs/CPI ECO 7 < GO > gets you agriculture data ECO 10 < GO > gets you the weekly energy report (crude/gasoline/distillates on Wednesday, and gas on Thursday) ECO 20 < GO > gets you the...

Question about health insurance for full time trader

Since you'll probably be at home when you're full time trading, suggesting to your wife to work at a school isn't a bad idea. Teacher's jobs (or other jobs) at schools are very easy -- short hours, 3 months vacation, and usually have great benefits.

    1 cent it is.

Your post is stupid. Don't like auto-exercise? Manually and explicitly exercise or lapse your options at 4:01 PM on Expiration Day. You have until 4:30 to give explicit instructions. If you forget about expiration day? Then you're fucking stupid and it's your own problem. And btw...

Lowest share size without running into problems

wow, they actually have rules against odd lots. Normally when I see things that sound suspicious on ET I assume it's bullshit, given the amount of false information here.

Lowest share size without running into problems

Yeah, ok, the specialist is going to call your broker, who's then going to call you.. ok.. that would never happen.

I think specialists have bigger shit to worry about then sending someone a nasty email for sending them odd lots.

I doubt bloomberg is wrong on this, though it is a bit odd.

    NQ in red now????????????

YHOO means almost nothing to the NQ As you can see, from the line numbered 21, YHOO is only 1.098% of the index (as of friday's market cap). GOOG is almost 5%, MSFT is 5.5%.
