    Obscene options cancel/modify fees

I've never heard of an options daytrader. The spreads and commissions on them make it practically impossible.. Example, if the spread's 10 cents (Which is pretty typical), you're already 10 cents in the hole. Now, assuming $1 / contract (which is fairly low, most ppl pay a lot more then...

Butterfly Lovers, please tell me your secrets?

He was considering commissions AND spreads. spreads can easily be a killer on multi-leg transactions.

    Trading the exchanges

well, if you think the prices are going to swing around wildly, go for long straddles. That's the play to make if you expect high volatility :)

    Trading the exchanges

you play them just like you'd play any other equity. Expecting a sharp up movement? buy calls. Expect low volatility? short a strangle, high volatility? long a strangle, etc..

My take on the prop firm legislation

The issue is that there ARE bad companies out there ripping people off w/ churn and burn schemes, when they're telling inexperienced traders fresh out of college that there's easy money to be made.

My take on the prop firm legislation

Legitimate LLC.. yes, it's very hard for the fed to do anything to them, and there's also no reason to do anything to them. However, when you have LLCs formed w/o sufficient capital and going bankrupt or running away w/ traders' deposits, it's no longer a legitimate LLC, it's a scam.

    Obscene options cancel/modify fees

Right, you get credits, but if you're trying to make a market, you're modifying a lot more then you're executing.

How would the taxes on something like this work out? I'd pay 300K for it if the taxes were favorable on my end.

    Obscene options cancel/modify fees

Of course, they're not going to do anything about it. Because if there were no cancel fees, anyone can make a market in options, making the specialists worthless. I'm surprised you got any response.

    Using options as a stop

if you're going to do the stock and options transaction simultaneously, then there is absolutely no reason to buy/sell stock and buy/sell an option with it in certain situations. If you're going to.. Buy stock, sell call: instead, just sell a naked put Buy stock, buy put: intead, just buy...

    Obscene options cancel/modify fees

yeah neke, there's no charge at ameritrade to cancel/modify, but good luck trying to make a market when you pay $9.99 + .75 / contract in commissions. Again, the system is designed to help the market makers profit, which screws over traders. They don't want a liquid options market, because...

    Rebate trading?

Yes, you unload the position back to yourself, adding liquidity w/ the rebate account, and removing it w/ the fixed commission account. How is it illegal? People did this all the time w/ IB before w/ their 0.2% commission cap (which forced them to change that policy). I simply want to...

    Option scam

I would never let the broker close me out, I'd do it myself before it happens, otherwise god knows what will get liquidated and at market price!

My take on the prop firm legislation

As far as I see, all the good prop firms that provide leverage would have no problem w/ additional disclosure stating that trading is risky, and that this is not a typical job, since the people they are trying to get already understand this (And if I choose to go in this direction, I know what...

    Lawsuit against Wizetrade

give me a break, anybody who honestly thinks you can trade a stock based on "green light" and "red light" from a purchased program is an idiot. If something like that worked, then that algorithm would be secret. (and companies do use trading algorithms, that they deverloped and are NOT FOR SALE!)

    Rebate trading?

I believe they offer direct access routing.. if not, you can pick a broker that lets you directly route it and charges a flat fee (there's plenty of em) Plus if you're offering 100,000 shares, and you put in a 100,000 buy order, the only place they CAN match that order up at is inet (Since i...
