AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

Hi, cool thread. If I may I like to ask about the closing price to which significance is assigned here. Why do you find the close important? What does the close mean in the bars you use? On daily and weekly charts I can clearly see why the close should have importance, at least in theory...

Always in the market and position size?

Investigating fixed fractional position sizing might help you. You can certainly read about it here (use the search feature) or search the web. Basically you decide how much % of capital you want to risk on each trade and determine the position size by dividing your risk amount by the single...

    Looking for a Trading Coach?

Inability to follow a profitable system is probably caused by lack of capital and/or lack of trust in the system. The latter can be overcome by understanding what the system is based on and thorough testing. The former by not trading until sufficient capital is available or by willpower. Another...

I am quite happy with Quotes-Plus, who supply the data for Highgrowthstock, if I am not mistaken. With the QP database comes a scan program that lets one do scans of fundamental and technical criteria and offers nice flexibility. A simple charting software is also included. I use the database...

    Advice needed on data feed

I need a data feed that provides accurate and timely qoutes and volume figures for stocks and quotes for futures, esp. commodities. My present data source is very slow with volume, esp. early in the day. I consider giving ESignal a try. Are they timely and accurate? Would be glad to get...

Chiefraven mentioning BONT prompted me to look into EPS ranks a bit. BONT's chart looks great but I have an EPS rank of 48 for it. That rank comes from Quotes-Plus. EPS rank is not a raw number but a calculated one. Each provider of an EPS rank seems to use a different proprietary method of...

Thanks for posting that list. May I ask why you have LEND in there? It doesn't look like it fulfills the RS and EPS rank requirements. What am I missing? I have these in addition to your list: DXPE, FRG, ICE, MTOX, OMTR and a couple of others which are below the required volume.

That is my observation, too. QCharts is good for a number of reasons but for stocks volume I need an alternative. I use IB's feed and the Amibroker program for charting. I found it is important to be consistent in one's data source here. Using QCharts average volume with IB's volume bars...

In the spirit of iterative refinement I like to mention what entry trigger I use. Not that I am an authority but some may find it of interest. In addition to monitoring for volume rising above the lower band I monitor for 30 minute bars with double the volume of the 30 bar average volume...

Active morning. I bought BTJ 37.26 CHDX 20.06 MEH 13.85 Exited SILC 24.15 That SILC exit hurt. Small profit but had I reacted faster at the open it'd be a large profit. Could have, would have, should have... leads nowhere.

    Why do you read ET?

I read ET to learn and also to know what is going on and is new with software, data feeds, books etc. If one reads enough, tries to recognize quality and ignores the negativity one can find some nuggets, IMO.
