I use stops similar to Dojibear--based on the recent H/L thats made. This method automatically adjusts your stops for volatility. On the ES, 2.25 points seems to be the minimum to avoid noise, but in the early mornings, and this last week, 3+ points seemed like the minimum.

The only "TA" I use is support/resistance. Its funny though that my average win/loss ratio is consistently 50% (for years in stocks and now futures), so I don't believe it has any value as far as predicting the future (for me). I make money by letting my winners run and cutting my losers...

Huios, awesome trading. I have the same problem not taking all the trades. If you have a positive expectancy methodology then your giving away profit not taking trades. Keep up the good work.

Also had Qcharts go out for 5 minutes later in the day, so bailed on a would be good short. Total of 10 ES points lost due to technical difficulties. Finally got above water for 5 points and quit for day. It was a tough day for me anyway, with several stops blown and then reversed.

I lost 5 ES points. The outages always occur before a big counter move :) Globex doesn't go down that often in my limited experience.

I second the part about knowing the exit before you trade. I always place my stop first, order second. That forces you to judge the risk/reward of the trade for one, and to also determine if the trade is worth the risk. Seems like your entries are based on momentum, which in this market is...

I would second that. These last couple months have been phenomenal, especially with the leverage of futures. Today, with decent discipline, you could've make 3:1 on every other trade. :)
