Scalping is too tough and too much work for me. Like you, I like the market to do the work for me and go for the bigger moves. It doesn't matter how much you make in a timeframe, it's consistency and drawdown that it comes down to. Get that figured out and just scale up for bigger profits...

    What's the catch?

Great system. Are you using index numbers or the actual contracts? It made a big difference in my testing, especially on the shorter time frames.

ok, let's go, show us that fibs work!

I wore out my 5 1/4 floppy of Wolfenstein playing it too much back in the early 80's.

Interesting method. Have you ever studied the Premium and its affect on futures prices after the program trading kicks in? I know http://www.programtrading.com/buysell.htm says they trigger their's at +1.82 for buys and -$1.32 for sells (varies), but it appears that even +/- 1.00 of premium...

    Day Trading Aint Easy

I don't use them (but get their free daily email), check out www.trade-prospector.com for ideas on how to swing or intraday swing the emini using S/R. They are top-notch for this type of trading.

    IB versus JTrader platform

No, couldn't enter orders but quotes worked fine. They have separate quote servers and execution servers I believe, and when the execution server loses its feed, it ceases to function. It will then stop accepting orders including previously entered stops because they are resident on IB's...

    IB versus JTrader platform

I've been through two outages on the Emini's so far at IB and still haven't come close to losing what I've saved in commissions. $2 a round turn is a big difference if you do a lot of trades. Plus, when they go down, you have a 50% chance of making money as well. Poor traders might use...

    What's the catch?

Or a trailing stop, or wait till close. My favorite is the LOD/HOD exit that only certain brokerages have. Gets you out at the exact extreme of day. :D :( :)

    Horrible!

Are you sure Stop Limit's are native on Globex? I've heard that but can't find where it says so on their site? They say "Regardless of whether an exchange accepts and processes STOP-LIMIT orders, Interactive Brokers will simulate all STOP-LIMIT orders." I can't find an exception for Globex?

    Horrible!

I'm not Def, but yes they would execute if your machine was disconnected. They aren't like Cybercorp with the stops resident on your PC--they reside on the IB servers. They are working on getting them on the Globex servers. Maybe Def can fill us in on the progress there?

    How I do It

Welcome back! We look forward to your wisdom...:D :D By the way, I'm short the ES overnight, should I cover now or let it ride? :)

    Horrible!

Let us know when you find a better value. I think IB should have an auto-liquidate rule when their system goes down. Say after 1 minute, all positions are liquidated if there's problems. I'd rather be out than rolling the dice. I've been caught in two outages but still like them overall...

people are trading for a living?????

:D :D In a normal distribution of things, there's always two ends to a bell curve. 30 points a week I'm sure isn't the end of the bell curve.

    What's the catch?

That would be #1 for me!! If you have zero creativity then successful trading of a good system is possible. If you are more creative, you better get the discipline to be Mr. Roboto in real-time.
