    AllenZ's Journal

Interesting day, but more of the usual. I know you trade the NQ Allen, but once again, during the low volume period, the market was run up to and slightly beyond the pivot point of 808 on the ES, and then driven down. This happens so regularly lately, that it has to have human intelligence...

Am I really this bone headed or is Qchart charts this bad

For some reason they include the pre and post market data in the daily figures I believe, giving you different #'s. I can't think of why they'd do this? I don't use the daily chart because of this.

    What happened at 3:45est???

I'm sure they hedged with the purchase of EFT's or futures in the aftermarket since they are short stocks. They'll unwind it with little risk tomorrow by purchasing back stock and selling the hedge. :D

    Maybe Gann/Fibb #'s Work???

Good question! I guess that's not a fib number? Anybody know what the Qchart retracement bar is trying show? The first two numbers on the retracement are Fibs I believe? What are the others?

    Maybe Gann/Fibb #'s Work???

I thought Gann/Fibb stuff was a bunch of baloney until I started following it lately and noticing many coincidences. Today on the ES emini, I was long from yesterday's close and held until the 61.8% retracement and exited slightly below. It then broke through and has now bounced off the 70.7%...

    Traders' Paradise System Explained

I'd do some Calculus on this system, find the derivative, and work up from there. Lot of mumbo jumbo that hides the real principle's behind what makes the system potentially work. It's basically a trend following system, incorporating early entries via candlestick interpretation, and exits...

    Something very simplistic

Hi Quah, you seem to be profitable everyday with your system. Is it the fib times or the trade orientation (L/S) that makes your system successful? Have you revealed how you determine long or short? Good job so far! :)

IB, Globex and Limit / Stop Orders

Here's some info from the most recent IB bulletin: ..." New Order Types Traders may now use Custom Stop Orders to specify how stop orders are triggered. Triggers may be specified for a single last price, two last prices, or two bid/ask prices. To change a trigger method, right click on an...

    October

I'd rather read a journal that makes money (like Hitman's $20 a day) for inspiration, or an entertaining journal like MrSub's, than the crash and burn type. So I look forward to yours. Not for specific entries/exits, but more for seeing what time frames and situations are successful for you...

Swing Trading E-Minis w/ Trade Prospector

Doesn't seem to be a program people swing trade with here? Their email trade summaries appear profitable, but somedays they get chopped up.

Poll: Are you a system trader or a discretionary trader?

System trading (with manual orders) is the only way to keep my darkside out of the mix. Also gives me less stress and more confidence knowing the historical probabilities of each trade. :)

    Following a set system.

I use Qcharts and Wealthlab, and I was able to export pre-market data? Have you tried the export feature on Qcharts? You then pull it into Wealthlab through the data manager.

    Following a set system.

Regarding the backtesting, 95 days covers only 4-5 months of trading. June, July and August were phenomenal for your type of system (big intraday ranges), but months prior would've been much tougher. Try testing your system on December 2001 and see how it does, as it was similar to this...

    Following a set system.

    Hi Andy, 1 NQ = 800 QQQ 1 ES = 500 SPY I'd definately test with 100 QQQ over 1 NQ:D
