Anyone taking the CME's Trade Against a Pro Trading Challenge (in less than 30 minutes from now)?

I tried it, had to take a crazy test and it was so mind-numbing I fell asleep during it.Then I got to join up, and it takes so long to go through their trading platform that the price moved away during the process, so I was pretty much restricted to market buy/sell, if I wanted to get filled...

    optimus futures broker

I have an account with Optimus. They've done things like call me at 12:45 on a half-day to make sure I knew it was a half-day because I was in a position. I did, but it was extremely thoughtful, and they put themselves out with no gain for themselves in order to make sure a client was aware and...

    When journals just end?

I suppose that's"multinick" is directed to me. I was directed to this forum by tech support at a brokerage firm, while making side conversations not directly related to my call, but just a response to "I like a good forum" This one was highly recommended. Never been to this forum before a few...

    When journals just end?

Somehow I found myself cruising the "Journals" subforum here and a couple of them seemed really interesting, then, all of a sudden, nothing. Not even somebody saying "Hey, where are you?" So, I wanted to ask,is this usually when a trader with a posted journal has one of those days where you...

Securing successful strategy from the broker stealing it

If you believe that is a real possibility, you can open multiple accounts. Several years ago, traders that I knew would have many accounts, mainly to hedge against their longer term positions.

Is it possible that index futures can go negative like oil futures?

You are aware that an index is composed of stocks, right? Some have names, like S&P500, which is an index composed of 500 stocks. Russell 2000. 2000 stocks. and Nasdaq 100. Not sure exactly how many stocks in that one??? 100, that's how many. As far as whether or not I know what index futures...

Ah, I see the problem here. I tend to read words as what the words actually mean.

Need some help to analyze a simulated position that didn't work out (BJRI 10/25/2019)

I used to make a lot of money straddling options at earnings. There are some horrific moves!! My favorite day of all time was July 16, 2004. On the 15th, NFLX was set to report earnings after the bell. On into the afternoon, it was trading at 32.50, and I bought 35 calls and 30 puts for 25 cents...

Need some help to analyze a simulated position that didn't work out (BJRI 10/25/2019)

The gap up was event driven(earnings) rather than anything technical. It's always good to find out why something moves, especially a gap. All you'd need to do would be look at a historical chart of how the stock did after earnings reports in order to formulate an opinion of what might happen...

Is it possible that index futures can go negative like oil futures?

Read history. As far as anything could happen, think back just a few years, then look at today's headlines. And don't inject bleach while doing so. Hell, just look up the concept of oil going negative, before it actually happened. If I owned United Airlines and had to be responsible for its...

Is it possible that index futures can go negative like oil futures?

All that needs to happen is a law passed that says shareholders are liable for a company's debt. Is that really out of the realm of possibility?

The key to successful trading is to be right more than you're wrong. But that's not enough.

prove you blew up your accound in CL today and Ill refund your loss!

I suppose that if a real person was to buy oil on the next to last day thinking it was going to bounce and not realizing that he would be on the hook to accept delivery, he might have got a good screwing. And if there were thousands of people that uninformed, all changing their bids and asks at...

prove you blew up your accound in CL today and Ill refund your loss!

It was one of the more fascinating things I've seen, much better than the flash crash. Algo trading, the bot cannot understand the concept of common sense. But, talk about your classic short squeeze, Holy Moly!!

Remember what Jesse Livermore said. Among other things was when you make a big hit, take half your profits home. which would be, out of the trading account. Matter offact, so many things he said are pointed to this thread. Here's a link to 7 of his most relevant ideas...

    $286 left

To the OP: on the day you posted your account, out of curiosity, why no short trades? Considering that ES never traded above the opening few minutes again until 3:30. Do you use indicators, look at charts, or just trade by gut? Why is your target profit so close to your stop loss? For instance...

I Got this one wrong guys.....

13 years ago, oil was trading a pretty steady range and bounce pretty good every time it hit 60. I was watching and waiting, and when oil hit 60, I went long. A few minutes later, as it had hovered between 59'95 and 60.05, it just dropped. Hard. So, of course I doubled down. and it just kept...
