    Is my career over?

I think you should trade larger, enough of this pathetic $600/day on a $12,000 account ... do you want to be a big swingin' dick or a pussy ass b!tch. I really don't think you're man enough to handle that size... *end of sarcasm* http://www.mgmgrand.com

    Pattern Day Trader

Yeah true but you would have to have a big account to wait for trade + 3 settlement days. And his account obviously isn't huge (under $25,000).

    Is my career over?

*sigh* That's a good day, 23% gain. Except the whole point of this is for you to understand position sizing. Can you at least acknowledge the fact that you're trading too large and you could be wiped out any week?

    Is my career over?

Ok so let's pretend you are correct  So you're saying on your way to becoming a consistent trader you would rather have big big balls and lose 50-100 thousand dollars in "tuition" then say 5-10 thousand???

    Is my career over?

Truthseeker - The "know-how" to your trading (and everyone else's) is position sizing, risk management etc. You're doing a great job convincing yourself you'll be a success with the trading plan (or lack thereof) that you have. One day you'll be broke and realize yeah these guys were right.

Can't bring myself to leave my job.

Maybe you're on "maternity leave" :p I would say stay at your current job until you have a few years wages saved up. If you're swing trading it's not like you need to be at your computer all day long anyway. How does your system perform in bear markets?

    Widescreen or not?

JM - Yeah it's those huge 30" I have a Dell 24" widescreen with a 128MB ATI card and I love it, I guess it all depends how you like your charts.

    Widescreen or not?

No it won't require a special card. I guess it all depends how you like your charts set up. I would go into a store and take a look at one first.

Best Car for Newly Hired Trader

Honestly, the best thing you could do is buy an 80's camaro (like the red dragon from Old School). Buy Mr Double's trading system and double your money again and again. BAM! you're rich, never work again!

I need help with Canadian brokers

I hate to speak for dandxg, but you're not going to get a lot of education with $500. Commissions will wipe you out alone.

    Interactive Brokers Training

No they don't offer training. I don't know how new you are to trading but www.investopedia.com is a good place to start. If you have any other questions try using the Search function for this forum, it's pretty handy.

Paper Trading Vs The Real Deal

Grob - I think our terminology is different, I should have clarified. When I said discretionary I meant not mechanical, not a computer executing my buy and sell orders based on parameters I programmed. You're right I am a newbie. I do have entry/exit/time rules. And yes I know that I don't...

Paper Trading Vs The Real Deal

So paper trading is only useful to verify that your system/method COULD be profitable. After a reasonable test, go live and trade small? Regards, jho
