Very weak day. Low volume. Nearly an upthrust but not even enough energy for that. I figure one good upthrust then close on or near the lows to turn this supertanker back around. I just don't see enough fundamental or technical strength to go much further.

The Real Reason Behind Fed Rate Hike

Ah, yes I see part of bank reform as well as jawboning for quantitative tightening.

The Real Reason Behind Fed Rate Hike

I agree. I came to the exact conclusion a few days before they announced. If you look at a graph of debt the only 3 areas the gov't can reduce spending are FED(listed as other mandatory in the pie chart), defense, and social security...

Another Head & Shoulder Top In US Index

I see a formation in the making but we are building the right shoulder on the way UP. Wait before establishing shorts unless we get big news this may take time. Just like the spike down on Feb 8th was a bear trap----a low risk place to establish a bullish position trade right now few if any...

Strong day. The FED move didn't paralyze the markets. Selling was easily contained. Next week as mentioned is where the bulls and rubber meet the road. We'll see where the real money is positioned although there are few bulls trapped at present and we are crawling up very steadily. I...

Open market operations do not have as much power as private financial interests. The jawboning AND rate increase by the FED albeit small are designed to withdraw support gradually as has been telegraphed to begin in March 2010. With expirations nigh and 1100 in exactly the middle of a trading...

Fed raises discount rate to 0.75 percent Timed as expirations are unwinding. I would think we rollover to 1023 as support for the next leg down next week as the market digest the implications of FED tightening the money supply.

The only thing holding this market up is expirations.... The small afterhours sell-off in progress is just a reminder of the volatility with alot of traders willing to sell at the slightest hint of any significant news.

We are definitely in rally mode but 1100 is a magnet for expirations this week. China's markets are closed. With China's central bank scare last Friday I would wait and see. They can scare the markets then buy the equities at a discount. They have curtailed treasury buying with the...

I am with you. The up volume is waning. I too believe more corrective action is in the works just showing the trend for the week since the reversal day.

See attached chart. Trend reversal 2/5 on big volume. Buy volume greater than sell volume this week, even in spite of China's news on Friday. Next week up into expiration range 1066 -1100, then the following week 1100-1150, the week following that 1123-1175.

Collapse of the euro is 'inevitable' says French Banking Chief

I like Greece and the Greek, and yes they have (or can have if they are in the correct circles) good lifestyles, but its like comparing apples to oranges culturally and economically. BTW no one likes the Brits except the Brits and even they hate each other.
