Do you count after hours data into your moving average?

Does anyone count after hours trading data into your equity moving averages and if so what do you see as the pros/cons?

Jim Rogers on the collapse of oil prices

Rogers has been wrong on many, many calls… but he is an interesting guy and did predict the commodity boom in his book, so credit where its due. Saudi have a new king who loves to spend, along with ingrained out of control social spending - with oil at $50 they are running 100 billion plus...

    ES vs Equities Swing Trading?

The main reason I posted this is because I am really drawn to futures; however, most of the random futures charts I look at are gapping all over the place and not smooth enough for me. Does anyone know are there any futures that have smooth trends, not long term, but just smooth intraday moves...

    ES vs Equities Swing Trading?

Hello, I did months ago a little, but from what I remember it was still a little too volatile; I find the individual large cap equities are a lot smoother (at least some of them), so I've had my eye on those.

    ES vs Equities Swing Trading?

Thanks, I was really just attracted to futures to simplify tax reporting, that was the main benefit that interested me, but I guess maybe I'll just stick with equities for this strategy at least.

    ES vs Equities Swing Trading?

I need advice on if trading the e-mini is a good idea. I want to experiment with a strategy involving swing trading with anywhere from a few trades a day to a few trades a week; I need an equity with good price moves for profit - but that is not too volatile on an hourly basis or such while...

Is there a minute/hour chart standard for moving averages?

When I run a 15-minute chart its completely different to a 2-hour moving average chart; being such an important factor I can't understand why this is never mentioned when I read a book or article or interview - no one ever seems to mention what minute/hour chart they are using when they mention...

Is trading only a hobby or job for the rich?

I have wondered myself if it would simply be easier to move to las vegas and pursue betting - rather than mastering trading. In the back of my mind I still am considering this option as the simplicity of betting really appeals to me. If your really good at poker I almost wonder if that would be...

Broker with most available shares to short?

Yes, that makes sense now; appreciate the help, I just had a hard time grasping the wording. Their fees seem to really shine with high priced stocks or penny stocks; like you could trade $100K worth of Google for $1 if I'm understanding this correctly... pretty cool

Broker with most available shares to short?

Thanks, but I just can't wrap my head around this; I thought the "maximum per order" fee was there to protect against very expensive commissions, but not override a low commission of $5 - which line 3 should have if it used the same rules as line 1&2 Why is the maximum per order fee kicking in...

Broker with most available shares to short?

I was looking over IB's fixed stock commission structure, but the examples they provide don't add up; 100 Shares @ USD 25 Share Price = USD 1.00 1,000 Shares @ USD 25 Share Price = USD 5.00 1,000 Shares @ USD 0.25 Share Price = USD 1.25 (Fixed Minimum Per Order: 0.005 per share USD, Maximum Per...

Broker with most available shares to short?

I just spoke to optionsX. They say right now they have 350K shares of Apple to short; that is 45 million approximately. It does not seem unreasonable to me that say 45 day traders with 1 million each could have bought all their shares on one morning - and it could even take much less than this...

Broker with most available shares to short?

Its an issue when they provide me borrowed shares for 20 trades straight and then when the one trade that actually matters comes they deny me the shares. Are you suggesting a broker would or could act in this manner intentionally?

Broker with most available shares to short?

Unfortunately I cannot afford to troubleshoot their platforms issues; I lost money for an entire week waiting for that big move - the move came at open and I couldn't enter a position. I need a reliable broker.

Broker with most available shares to short?

Okay this is the advice I was looking for, thanks for steering me in the right direction. Since IB has more day traders, do you think their liquidity may actually be better than Fidelity though? Or would Fidelity still have better liquidity just due to their sheer client base? Also, do you have...

Broker with most available shares to short?

I am just looking for recommendations on the best retail firm - Interactive Brokers, Trade Station, etc. etc. - I just need the best odds for short order execution, so I want the largest firm or firm with most shares to lend on average, thanks.

I tried 4 times over 5 minutes roughly, they did not have shares.

Broker with most available shares to short?

A week ago my broker did not have shares of apple to short during a large move. This is unacceptable for my strategy. Can anyone recommend the broker with the best percentage odds of being able to execute a short order of a large cap stock like Apple?

Best Way To Deal With A Large Drawdown

"Since I started in the business, I have seen a number of traders who ended up committing suicide or being homeless. The one trait they all shared was that they had a gambler’s mentality. When they were losing, they were always looking for that one trade that would make it all back. I learned...
