    What do you think-

That is exactly what is happening. The price isn't going up because the actual demand for oil is going up vs the actual supply of oil. It's that due to speculation the demand for the CONTRACTS is going up vs the supply of those contracts.

    Total newbie options questions

LOL so true. Most (not all) of the "free trading seminars" only teach you that you cannot trade at all unless you buy more training from them. I will say that there are a few "free classes" that while they don't provide enough info to be the best you can be they do provide a basic foundation...

    Total newbie options questions

Most options are never exercised and expire worthless. Most options traders either enter the trade with the expectation of either getting back out of the trade before expiration OR if they wrote the option and it is out of the money they are expecting it to expire worthless so they keep the...

Should I do it? Bank of America BAC and Wachovia WB

Someone should start an official JackStone vs. HFT2 thread. That would be hilarious to watch. Maybe get Cold in there as well just to stir the pot more.

Hannah Montana "topless" photo rocks Disney?

Wrong, Disney didn't find out about this photo or the shoot until the story broke on Entertainment Tonight (the other ET).

Are selling verticals the same risk as covered calls?

Unfortunatly not everyone knows about or has access to such graphical tools....even though some are available free of charge.

Are selling verticals the same risk as covered calls?

I think he was being a smart ass and trying to refer to Brady Bunch apparel. :D

Are selling verticals the same risk as covered calls?

I think what you mean is: Is BUYING a Vertical Call Spread like writing a covered call? The answer then becomes: sort of. If you buy a Vertical Call spread you are limiting your upside (just like a covered call) but you are also limiting your downside which is the major difference. Also since...

    GOOG suckers

Oh I have a couple of facts slightly off on the gator story. He was actually pulled over for a suspicious U-turn and linked to the burglery after the fact by a state trooper and not a sheriff deputy. He also apparantly was found with a water-moccasin in his car last Friday and it had bitten him...

    GOOG suckers

Yesterday in Brazoria County, Texas a man was pulled over by a sheriff's deputy b/c someone had called in the car as having possibly been used in a burglary of a residence. As the deputy was walking up along side of the car he looked into the back drivers side window of the car he saw a LIVE 6ft...

    GOOG suckers

Depending on which specific calls some wrote, they are looking at about a 5k-7k loss per contract. It doesn't take too many contracts to put a serious dent in someone account or even wipe one out if they were over leveraged.

    GOOG suckers

Well in general when I say "short", it includes those that shorted the instrument, those that wrote calls and those that bought puts. I agree though that the people in the highest suicide risk category right now are those that still have outstanding short April calls in the 400 range.

not much to move markets tomorrow,Friday April 18th...what can move it?

With the markets already trading right at resistance levels if GOOG can just make them gap up above that resistance by even a little bit it could give the markets enough bullish sentiment to stay above that resistance and keep going. I don't think the market could stand for long on GOOG alone...

    GOOG suckers

I am not sure it will come back to flat before open tomorrow. It might come back $30-$40 then again I wouldn't have guess a $75 AH up shoot either. If it does stay up $35-$75 though I feel very sorry for those that shorted it. Anyone that shorted any size might be looking for an upper story...

    ES Journal Archive (2006 - 2008)

So the question of the hour is what effect will GOOG have on the market tomorrow? I think it will definitely create a gap up in the am but will it provide enough strength to stay above the 72.25 resistance levels or will it be a fast trip up and back down? Glad I didn't short this.

    ES Journal Archive (2006 - 2008)

I agree thats why I said "if you feel you have to be in the market" then short would make the most sense. While it's not the best time to short the fact that it has tested this support level 7 times (counting today) in April alone makes it pretty significant resistance. So I would say for those...

    ES Journal Archive (2006 - 2008)

I'll tell you what I see. I see the ES trading right up to the same resistance level that it tried but failed to break every trading day from April 2nd to April 9th and then failed again yesterday to break. I also see that there is a very short term (3 day) upward trend line acting as a weak...

what is the best Trading platform for a starter

Paper. Unless you have already done this for a significant time. Otherwise it will depend largely on two main things. What you will be trading and the amount of starting capital you have.
