    ICE soft settlements

Settlement on MGEX is the same as the other grains...final period into 1:15, but the market stays open until 1:30 CST for "post settlement"

    ICE soft settlements

are you getting these each day? Also, I don't think cocoa settles out in last 2 minutes. Not sure of what time frame the "settlement" comes from, but I'm pretty sure its not the last 2 minutes. I think that is true of all the softs, and I know that it is not the case with MGEX wheat.

    Mini-Corn

youngtrader is correct...they should be fungible, just as the regular electronic contract is fungible with the pit traded contract, or how the ES is fungible with the big board SP.

Looking for scalpers to join trader chat

honestly...your best bet, if you want a truley "quality" group rather than just wannabes is to wait. Talk with guys you meet etc, maybe some of your old prop buddies, etc, and after a while you'll start to develop a close knit group of trading "friends". You may not all have the same methods...

    Cargill

depends where you apply at. Had a friend of mine go in there right out of high school. It takes a long time, and you get "stuck" there for a while, but he said it was worth all of the effort, they really do teach you to trade the grains. That was 5-6 years ago though...not sure if they've...

Is a career path from scheduler to trader difficult?

Completely agree! Energy forum, then Ag forum, then it goes down hill fast with nothing but useless drivel and slap-fights in the rest...

Does IB support pit sessions in US futures ?

Not true...if you trade corn or wheat then yes...pit access it not needed, and will only slow you down. HOWEVER, if you trade in some of the less liquid markets like Feeder Cattle, Lumber, Pork Bellies, or Livestock or Softs options, pit access is VITAL.

Question about basis risk vs liquidity

liquidity is MUCH more important because basis is so regional. For instance, where I am at, we are basis positive on corn, whereas in the Midwest they are basis negative. Basis is moreso affected by region, given demand (feedyards, ADM ect.) and transport issues (Mississippi river for Midwest)...

    Cattle market : Futures arb

No...when I said 2 months out from the "FC month"...I meant Feeder Cattle. So basically if you bought the March Feeders, you'd look to also buy the May Corn, and sell the Auggie fats Lots of Ag Spreads out there...go to the CME site...look under SPAN or performance margin, and you can get...

    Cattle market : Futures arb

Midas, not trying to be rude, just being honest, but you won't learn how to "trade" physical cattle from any book or seminar. You just have to be around cattle for a while, and get to "know" them. Then, you have to "earn your seat" in the salebarn...some of those 60y/o cattle jockeys in...

    Cattle market : Futures arb

Midas....cash arb is MUCH easier in feeder cattle rather than live cattle. Selling fats is a much more difficult ballgame...for starters, you are NOT going to find 1200 lb cattle for sale at a salebarn, you would have to bid for them out of the feelot, which is what the packers do, so unless...

looking for a future trading company with reliable data

If you want the best for just data (charts) you have to go with either CQG or DTN ProhpetX. If you need order entry AND charts all in one package, the best is still CQG (DTN is just charts). My preference for cost effectiveness is ProphetX charts + Ninja, followed closely by CQG...
