any of you using this yet?

I can across this a few days ago - supposedly they help mitigate the visual overload by turning some of the visual info into audio. Here's a link to the demo. http://accentus.com/products/go.php I can see how this can be done for one or two extra dimensions to keep track of. But beyond that...

S&P Index Rebalancing of Float Adjustment

WMT, MSFT stood to lose the most ground and XOM, C to gain the most in the second stage of the float adjustment. Any of you guys make a fortune over the last few days? :D

    CFA vs MBA??

I think his point was that 90% of all that effort, albeit strenuous and time-consuming, is pointless - except in allowing employers to screen out based on who could persevere through it. Toss away the unneeded team projects, the bla bla bla of marketing, HR management and the like, leave some...

    CFA vs MBA??

No, get a PhD from a decent school instead. Beat the @#% out of MBA and CFA combined, both knowledge-wise and as far as opening doors for you. Trust me, been there done that. cheers.

    converting numbers to shades

Hi guys. I know some of you are Excel guru's so you probably can nail this question. Here's my problem. I have a program that spits out probabilities over a range of outcomes over time. I'm trying to convert these to shades of grey so one could eyeball them and see the clusterings etc...

    VBA question

Not sure about that. If this was a one time deal, yes, you are undeniably right. But this is something that will be done over and over. The way I have it now is rather flexible, it will find the best three matches and if what you were looking for was there, odds are very high it'll be one of...

    VBA question

OLiver, I checked out that link, very interesting - where were you yesterday! Kidding :-) It turns out the macro I have now outputs identical results - it does exactly what that challenge was asking for. Whether it's as efficient as the one they have - I don't know yet, I'll check. Mine...

    VBA question

I partially agree with you that it's not the best tool for many tasks. I also agree with chs245 that you are not giving it enough credit. Under the present circumstances, I'm writing a macro which would be simple enough for junior staff to use - hence, simper platform is better :D Cheers, V.

    VBA question

You are quite right. But relative to the length of the string, the match would be closer for D E L L inc. Of course, there might be some other name that matches better, but D E L L Inc would likely be one of the top three hits. ... I hope :-) Thanks a lot for your insights! V.

    VBA question

Hi ArchAngel, Thanks for getting back to me so fast. The data files aren't very large. The file I'm looking for the info in is about 45000 rows and about 10 columns. I could pre-process it, but I'd rather have it in the original format, b/c it'd likely be updated/revised periodically with...

    VBA question

Hi guys, I'm writing a macro that would look up firms in a database by ticker-date or name-date combination and then spit out the stuff I need. The ticker-date part was easy. With the names being written in a myriad of possible ways, what do you recommend is the best way to program the look...
