yeah, tied that when asian server went down for 40 minutes several days ago (there is a thread on ET, so don't pretend like it was my issue and not yours). i called, finally got to a trader and 90 seconds and 5 identity confirm questions (to include my driver's license!) when i told him the...
the server reset is a known- nearly always @ 9.25PST. THAT isn't the problem, it's the constant drops, hiccups, etc. in the HHI.HK, 10 minutes could easily mean $10,000- even with just 3 contracts.
i looked into the asian server and was advised against, as the asian server has real issues if...
what a surprise- that is the pat answer everyone @ IB gives whenever their server goes down. i have chat transcripts where i tell the CSR 3x that it was NOT the server reset, that i am familiar with the server reset (9.25PST every night) and that the outage was 4 different times 90, 60 and 20...
IB is down, again, overnight while i am trading HHI.HK. this is the 5th or 6th time in the last month. conservatively this has cost me @ least $6-7,000.
does anyone have an alternative to IB with somewhat comparable commish and BETTER reliability? need to have access to SGX, HKFE, and DAX...
wish i'd been closer. i posted that right after i took off my er2 short. sat here patting myself on the back and then decided i was smart enough to call the turn- went short and got burned (one of those frustratingly stupid things i learned not to do in.... ohh.... 1988). now i'm underwater and...
you guys familiar w/the the concept of thread hijacking?
it wouldn't be so bad if one of you would occasionally say something even remotely funny, but that appears less and less likely w/each passing post...
wow! what a call. i've read books about things like this, but i never thought i'd actually see it in real time. calling a 2/10 of a percent move in the dow is not the work of a mere mortal.
now THIS is what makes this forum truly valuable. if only everyone would take the time to post urgent...
exactly what i was thinking- really cnbc-ish of them (except cnbc only allows bulls).
funny, in t/a 101 i thought i learned that it's a contrarian indicator. i'd feel a lot better about being bearish if the p/c ratio were @ all time lows.
not to sound like another IB hater- but i'm getting there. given the type of client they cater to, the lack of redundancy in their system which allows a server error to bring down TWS and/or their order system 3 consecutive days is just not acceptable in 2007! frankly, it's unbelievable.
does...
this is not the first time i've been in a position and this has happened. anybody have a good alternative to IB for trading the HSI and SGX? when i pay a company over $4,000/month in commissions i expect redundancy and less lag than i get.
i trade the US market too and the only 'solution' is...
you're a long time poster, so i assume it's for real. ummm... wow.
congrats. i rarely post, but this seems worthy. given the lack of movement today, what in the world were you trading and in what size? only thing i can guess is CL.
urgh. this bozo cost me over $1200 tonight. er2 fell off a cliff (granted, not a very high cliff, but high enough...) and the HSI did likewise. stops and the HSI don't play well together and i picked the wrong time to take a piss.
a lesson learned, for sure. got a little complacent and forgot...
anyone else coming to the opinion that the asian markets are telling us that they are now the dog and we are the tail? big fat whothefuckcares reaction to drops in the US markets lately. N225 in danger of going positive as i type- in the face of the US declines. thing is, i'm not even...
had to post just cause seing 'quotron' sent my mind immediately back to my rookie days @ mother merrill. actually, @ our office, only the top hitters had their own. they tried to make sure an active stock guy shared with a mutual fund jockey to cut down on the fights over the quotron. my dream...
yeah, i used the sina quotes last night- jsut need to make sure you allow allow the scripts to run so it's dynamic).
strange, 1st day i had reliable streaming real time and it's the first day i've lost $ in the HSI in 2 weeks! go figure. granted, the smaller range yesterday and my...
Kudlow's check engine light's been on for a while. can't believe he isn't cognizant enough to understand the fact that oil was down blows up his hypothesis.
i use IB and they don't provide real time quotes (or any quotes) for any of the Shanghai indicies. Does anyone know of a source to get these quotes? ideally, i am trying to find real time, dynamically updating quotes/charts. i am not trying to trade the Chinese market, i need the real time data...
