    your opinions on inequalities

Based on the statistics mentioned, one thing I have to note here is that these social benefits have not done anything to address the fundamental issues that cause poverty. To make an analogy, these programs are giving a man a fish instead of teaching him how to fish. In order to truly solve the...

    your opinions on inequalities

My friend, it is refreshing to see people like you in this forum who are willing to seek honest answers. In my view, the "poor" in America live infinitely better lives than the those who are truly poor in third world countries. If you took a look at the homes of the "poor," you would find that...

So what happens if LEH doesn't declare bankruptcy tonight?

The asset management team is supposedly the only golden goose left at Lehman. Perhaps they really are planning to sell it?

So what happens if LEH doesn't declare bankruptcy tonight?

Speaking of headlines, what happened to the offers that Lehman received for their asset management division? Are those now off the table?

So what happens if LEH doesn't declare bankruptcy tonight?

Hmm, what was the purpose of doing the netting trades this afternoon since it's 12:00 now?

So what happens if LEH doesn't declare bankruptcy tonight?

That's part of the puzzle; why did they show interest in LEH in the first place if they were going to end up buying MER?

So what happens if LEH doesn't declare bankruptcy tonight?

If you're talking about the special trading session they had today for counterparties, the trades are only official if Lehman declares bankruptcy tonight. That's why I'm curious about this.

So what happens if LEH doesn't declare bankruptcy tonight?

They only have 1 hour left... personally, I don't think they'll be declaring bankruptcy. The FED has the option to temporarily backstop Lehman's liabilities for 48 hours? while they go and try to find another buyer.

Adding onto that, how does short selling work with the T+3 settlement?

Question about 3 day settlement rule

So if you have margin, does it mean that you don't need to follow the T+3 rule? Ex. Let's say you have $1000 in equities in your account. If you close out your position by market close, then can you theoretically buy the next day again and repeat each day?

Thinking About Opening An Account at Interactive Brokers

I'm curious about the options part because at a typical "retail" broker they divide up options strategies into various approval levels with the lower levels needing only a cash account while the higher levels needing margin.

Thinking About Opening An Account at Interactive Brokers

Hello, I'm planning to open an account at Interactive Brokers but I have a few questions about how they operate. 1. Does IB have options approval levels like Etrade for example? 2. Does IB require a minimum net worth/minimum income, etc... any qualifications for trading futures...

FOX Business news is a joke

As other posters have said, Bloomberg is much better than the others. I'm surprised that CNBC is such a large cash cow for GE.

    ES Liquidity Issues

Why do traders say that you run into liquidity issues when you try to trade more than 100 contracts on ES for example? Are they referring to only scalpers and day traders? Couldn't you just broaden your time horizon (position trading) and accumulate contracts and put up more margin to reduce...

What kind of Nasdaq, Dow "Volume" is listed at Yahoo Finance?

Yahoo Finance is free so you get what you pay for. NYSE's website is probably the best bet for finding accurate information. Just out of curiosity, why are you interested in the index volumes?

    Futures Settlement

Thank you that's what I was meaning to ask. I thought the terminology for futures wouldn't be that different from stocks, but it looks like Futures for Dummies in the meantime for me.
