I totally agree with the orders changing order automaticaly. It is a real pain - when an order is transmitted and then moves, it is no longer selected. If you want to modify it, you have to select it again. I'm pretty sure the purple bid/ask means that the exchange with that price doesn't...

I had this problem off and on today too. It also took quite a few of my executions 30 seconds or more to post to the position column and the account window.

I'm having trouble understanding exactly what the p/l column and total are telling me. Is it totals for the day or since the position was open, or what? Thanks for your help.

ddefina, I have tried to reverse a long position in one trade using a limit order, and TWS wouldn't let me do it. You have to enter one order to get flat, and another to get short. It also won't let you short stocks that IB doesn't have available to borrow.

I started using 10 share lots for the exact reasons you state. I am now trading 100 share lots and am ready to increase to 200 next week (and then increase more as long as I remain profitable). I haven't noticed much difference between 10 share and 100 share lots. I didn't trade NYSE stocks...
