IB introduces automated trading for dummies

The link works for me too.....sounds as if you've got some troubleshooting to do. :-(

[Newbie Question] Can I trade a bull put spread if the OI and volume are 0?

Somebody's gotta be first. :-) But with such a lack of demand, you'd better be happy with staying until expiration.

Do you know any platform that allows you to trade on CRUDE OIL WEST TEXAS-CASH

Hey that kinda looks like US equities a few months back... what could go wrong? Also, look at your chart, but back 6 months.... it looks funky: Something doesn't smell right. Just my 2 cents.

Dude, why are you in the COMMODITY FUTURES forum?

    2 free books

Wait, actually not true. Her NEW book is 19.99 for kindle or paperback (or free trial of kindle unlimited). But her 2 previous related books are truly free (in kindle form): 1) www.amazon.com/Traders-First-Book-Commodities-Everything-ebook/dp/B076N6JW8P/ 2)...

    2 free books

Not normally free, and way more valuable than free content on the internet, 2 books I already own (but haven't mastered, as I'm still a futures noob) have kindle versions free for a few days: That's a screenshot from an email, so the links don't work. :-)

Betting on a big move in the SPX in 2 years time

@keroppi, I hope you appreciate the help you're getting from @stepandfetchit !! And No, software like ONE, OV, and your broker's software doesn't have this kind of custom options screen.

Betting on a big move in the SPX in 2 years time

That software is ONE (OptionNET Explorer, https://www.optionnetexplorer.com/). It's essentially a copy-cat of OptionVue for about $50/month. It's not fully broker-integrated or anything like that, but I get a lot of insight from it.

Betting on a big move in the SPX in 2 years time

@Overnight: Well, at expiration, the spread is a better return here, unless spx goes above 4500 or higher. The breakeven is a few points above 4000, and at 4100 you get the full 18x return... and not a bad return if you sell early: But when just buying the 4000 call for $3500, if kept to...

    gross receipts - schedule L

My 2 cents, not legal or tax advice: I assume you're referring to an S-corp, and schedule B, question 11. The instructions say: Question 11 Total receipts is the sum of the following amounts. • Gross receipts or sales (page 1, line 1a). • All other income (page 1, lines 4 and 5). • Income...

    SPX OTM calls IV crush

Well, yes, compared to Friday the near otm are lower today/yesterday, but, ummm, the market is actually higher than on Friday. Doesn't seem out of the ordinary to me. Do you have any specific examples? To me, recent craziness was from the low on 3/23 through say 3/28. Here's 3/24 to 26:

How do you manage your cash position with your broker?

Yes, exactly. Except for me, I'd like another tier. After the cash substitutes would get liquidated, I'd want my bond, commodity, and equity etf's to go before my options. :-)

Anyone have a LLC in California? Not sure how to save on taxes in CA with 500k profit

Quick comment re retirement plans. I don't know exact entity requirements or employee-count requirements, but you MUST look into a combo of a 401k-PSP (profit sharing plan) AND a cash-balance pension plan (which is a traditional ERISA pension plan, but instead of guaranteeing a fixed payment...

How do you manage your cash position with your broker?

I guess it depends on the exact positions held in one's account and the margins used. I tag all of my options trades to be liquidated last but not anything else....

How do you manage your cash position with your broker?

IB lets you tag any, many, most positions as "Liquidate last" so that if possible during an automatic margin call those positions get liquidated last (which is fine for protecting positions you want to keep for tax purposes or whatever reason). IB's full definition: Liquidate Last Option [...]...

How do you manage your cash position with your broker?

That's exactly what the OP says he does with VGSH, but he doesn't want to pay close attention to his account.... Does Schwab (or any other broker you know of) have a "liquidate first" tag for those money market funds (or any security)?

Closed study group for options trading

Dude, you took such care in your first couple posts that I mistook you for a native English speaker, so I felt your misunderstanding of "pretentious" was fair game. My poor Spanish and German, and even worse Japanese and Cantonese, will never rise to your English.... respect to you. I don't...
