Freezing Up during Interest Roll Over

Its not unusual that trading is suspended during the roll-over period (many brokers do that). Oanda debits/credits the swap immediately after a trade (calculated on a per second precision) - they don't have a daily roll-over period.

Oanda - Add Your SCAM SCREENS Here

P.S.: how's the retail-Barx? I personally don't think they will have much success with their min/max position size policy, minimum deal is 100K and maximum size is 3M - they don't please the small-time traders nor the bigger ones with that.

Oanda - Add Your SCAM SCREENS Here

Your 10 minutes must be a one time incident. They usually go back after a minute or so. Today at ADP release they didn't widen at all, whereas hotspot (my 2nd broker) was 20+ on cable.

Oanda - Add Your SCAM SCREENS Here

Just as a note, spread-widening on MB Trading or Hotspot are as wide and often wider than on Oanda. Altho it gets down to the usual spreads faster on these platforms.

    Currency not fx

E7 is the emini contract for Eur/Usd, its contract size is half of EuroFX. Its illiquid, don't trade that one, use EuroFX instead.

NinjaTrader vs OpenQuant for automated trading

What i would look at is the following: can the program in question recover gracefully from a temporary disconnect (be it connectivity loss, local computer reboot, broker outage, etc.).? After a reconnect the system should be aware of its pending orders and which positions (if any) 'belong' to...

Which trading s/w provides the most realistic simulator?

Does the OP want to backtest a strategy in historic simulation, or want to place live-trades manually into a sim-account? For the former Neoticker is a very good choice, for the latter Ninjatrader (Neo is really bad for manual order placement).

Effect of futures prices vs. cash markets

Have you read the 'Amaranth'-report (U.S. Congress)? It focuses on nat gas trading, but it has some interesting sections on the influence between swap/futures/spot trading. Worth a read.

Which trading s/w provides the most realistic simulator?

Neoticker can fill on bid/ask prices on a tick-level in simulations - provided that data is available on a historical basis of course. There are several fill-models to choose from (exact, worst, average, ...). No idea about Ninja.

    Cable ECN

I assume from your question that you trade a smaller account. There is Interactive Brokers, Hotspot retail and MB Trading (where MB has by far the most expensive commissions). All three are somewhat solid firms (10+ years in business). For larger accounts there are more possibilities.

Professional grade Charting software - how to find good retail charting software

Its not slow. The speed depends on the datafeed you are using with Neoticker rather than the software itself. People are screening hundreds of stocks with it simultaneously. Also, Ninjatrader can only do futures (which makes it not suitable for the op). Neoticker can work with every asset...

Oanda - Add Your SCAM SCREENS Here

So whats the alternative? There are countless complaint-threads about IB and CMC too, some of them even legit complaints (the theme of the CMC threads appear to be connectivity problems and subsequent not executed orders, and absurd Nasdaq pre-market spreads raping stops left and right).

Oanda - Add Your SCAM SCREENS Here

Calm down, forestgril. Noone has been hurt, those trades have been undone. Your bad language and hysteria reflects more on yourself than anyone else. I have had trades busted on Oanda as well as on ECNs (the alleged land of milk and honey by many professional broker bashers like yourself). I...

Oanda - Add Your SCAM SCREENS Here

I think you are a bit paranoid there. I have had loosing as well as profitable trades undone by Oanda. At least i can't make out such a policy as you describe there. I think it is what it looks like - a bad tick that slipped through - at least in my cases they rolled back the trades in way that...

Oanda - Add Your SCAM SCREENS Here

They are rolling back trades that triggered on those spikes (as they do always when a wrong quote slips through, to best of my knowing). See: http://www2.oanda.com/cgi-bin/msgboard/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=17;t=004228;p=2

If you want realtime data, eSignal on Demand is not for you, this only offers delayed data ('delayed' on eSignal means 15-20 minutes as far as i remember).

Unethical but True, Transact does it

If they would in fact be infringing any TT patents, you can be absolutely sure they would have gone to court by now (like they did a dozen times earlier). Calm down..

Unethical but True, Transact does it

Its Trading Technologies that sues everyone who offers something that looks like a DOM, Ninjatrader pays them as well as far as i know. Their latest victim is eSpeed, according to their website.

    Forex Trading Arcade SF

Well, what do you plan to offer? Maybe it makes sense if you offer a nice office space, a pro-level connection (like BTRadianz or leased line) and access to professional platforms with cheap commissions. If you are going to offer trading on Oanda via a consumer-level internet line in a basement...
