How can we get the price of oil to come down?

RAISE INTEREST RATES. Sorry if the price of your home declines, but you can't have your cake and eat it too.

how to protect your account from huge catastrophic events.

I hear what you're saying, I was wondering more about what these day-trade only pro shops do. Because they almost all trade equities alone, the positive correlation must put them at a MUCH higher risk than someone with a balanced portfolio.

how to protect your account from huge catastrophic events.

Why does everyone think that the only catastrophic risk can happen overnight? What if you're a nifty day-trader, and you blink when the oh sh!t button gets pressed? Your over-leverage and that of your mates wipes out the firm. Do day-trade shops and arcades hedge at all?

Ignore news and trade purely technical?

If one is trading technically, then listening to the news shouldn't really matter anyway. I prefer to listen to the news so that i can understand why a particular move may be happening. What is important is to have a trained ear, which can decipher what's important and disregard the rest. For...

how to protect your account from huge catastrophic events.

What about day trading "portfolios"? Does anyone hedge those? What about the guys who run prop groups? If you have a group of 20 traders trading at 20x leverage and something catastrophic happens, can you survive? Do you have guys trading negatively corrolated instruments? Do you buy put...

    Starting/Working for a Hedge Fund

The only thing you need to worry about is margin calls. If you sustain losses and don't have the cash available, you could be forced to liquidate a portion of those bonds. Essentially the same as cash.

Which Caribbean Island to move to

Well this couldn't be a more general question. Obviously it depends on the individual (and their tastes) and what area in the caribbean you want to live. a) Define "nothing to do". Considering that you'll be trading 6-10 hours a day, 5 days a week-- what sort of entertainment do you...

Which Caribbean Island to move to

How is Belize not in the Carribean? Most cruise lines include Belize on their southern carribean itineraries. I like Belize as well, but definitely more crime there than some other areas.

Which Caribbean Island to move to

Well I'm not the OP but was an advocate of Cozumel. Believe me when I say Cozumel is nothing like the rest of Mexico as far as crime is concerned. And I understand your reservations about crime there having been to other parts of Mexico as well. The reason crime is non-existant there is...

Which Caribbean Island to move to

I'm not trying to sell you a timeshare or anything just trying to relay my experience. :D :D :D As far as British Common Law vs. Napoleonic Law, if you don't do anything wrong, you've got nothing to worry about. The fact that Cozumel is an island whose only real industry is tourism, there...

Which Caribbean Island to move to

I lived and traded for almost a year in Cozumel, Mexico. 45 minute ferry ride from Playa del carmen and mainland Mexico. 1 1/2 hours to Cancun. Internet and cell service were MORE reliable than in the US. Beautiful beaches, world class scuba diving, great food-- both Mexican and traditional...

Obama Delegate - say good bye market

He was black to win the democratic nomination, he's now white while running for the presidency. See how that works? Clearly you need to brush up on your politics.

Obama Delegate - say good bye market

I can tell you this much-- no way BHO picks her as a running mate for the "dream" (nightmare) ticket. He's got enough problems trying to watch his front, let alone trying to watch his back. Vince Foster says hello.
