    Will IB offer mini-grains?

It hasn't been known as International Petroleum Exchange for 2 years but never mind. Just one of those little quirks that makes you love IB. :p

Moving from the US to the UK (questions) ...

You can trade 100% tax free with spread betting companies. Some of them are bucket shops but some allow you to trade futures in a spread bet wrapper. Otherwise, tax is not deducted from source. You have to make contact with the tax authorities (make sure you don't forget). I'm pretty sure...

URGENT, Secure Device Required for TWS

As someone else mentioned in another thread, this new security device is not going to work. The only way a criminal can get hold of your login details (unless you're stupid enough to respond to a phishing email) is if they get you to install a trojan on your computer. If they install a trojan on...

    Buying YM @ 13477 wow!!!!!!!

If he's a long term player why is he buying new highs? Why wasn't he all in at the low 12000s with the rest of the smart money? Now we have a shooting star and oh dear he's bought the top.

    News service recommendations??

NewsStrike is free and good. If all you want is pre-market news before the open what's wrong with good old Bloomberg TV?

    Nite Session U.S. Index Futures

There's a mini Nikkei for about $5 a tick and the margin for EuroStoxx or FTSE is not much more than YM. Overnight YM is too illiquid for good trading.

everyone on ET is a bear

Given that retail traders as a group are always on the wrong side of the market you would expect most participants in a retail trading forum to be wrong in their market forecasts. It's an excellent contrarian indicator. Once a majority of ETers are bullish, that's a good time to sell.

Stock Market Never Going Down Again

Watch out boys ... profit taking! The TV analysts and traders really don't have a clue do they?

    "Sell in May's" track record

This bit sounds more like it to me: The timing is difficult to predict. Sell-in-May evangelist Jeffrey Hirsch, publisher of the Stock Trader's Almanac, says the stock-slowdown pattern might be shifting. From 1985 to 1997, May was actually the strongest month for the S&P 500, and in recent...

what kind of computer for trading?

Running Windows XP Professional - a very stable OS. I don't think I'm a rare exception at all, most people have auto updates on and have an antivirus running in the background. User stupidity is the reason why most viruses spread.

what kind of computer for trading?

None of the above. I have Windows auto updates on and Kaspersky Internet Security and Diskeeper running in the background. No viruses, no crashes and hardly any maintenance time.

what kind of computer for trading?

You make the mistake of thinking everyone's experience of Windows is as bad of yours which obviously isn't the case but any business that did want to turn away from Windows would be more likely to turn to Linux which dominates the server market anyway and means they wouldn't have to rely on an...

what kind of computer for trading?

No I don't work in Windows IT support but I do have a reliable and secure PC that runs all the software I want not just the minority of software that developers can be bothered to port over to the Mac.

what kind of computer for trading?

I knew it wouldn't be long before the Mac crowd jumped into the thread. Macs are overpriced Mickey Mouse machines built for computer illiterate graphic designers and advertising executives. The only benefit seems to be that so few people own them that no one bothers writing viruses for them. In...

Really unhappy with Ensign and DTN/IQ data feed

DTN is way behind eSignal and only slightly ahead of IB (if at all) in terms of speed. Also with eSignal you can just cancel and restart your subscription as you wish (for example if you're going on a 3 week holiday you can cancel for 3 weeks and then restart). With DTN on the other hand they...

Watch the new economic data before the Fed

If only the markets were that logical. Weak holders who bought the highs (like you) will have to be shaken out before the next leg up.
