Poll: How much $ do you on Trading tools and resources monthly?

The most important two things I spend money on are Bloomberg and Market News. About to trial Reuters 3000 as I honestly believe having fast news give you an edge.

is buying GBP/USD at this level a good trade?

Can anyone who has bought cable on Friday tell me a few specific reasons why. It has fallen a long way I agree but it had done that when it was at 1.81! I am not saying it won't bounce but at the moment I can not saw one reason to buy it. My advice would be to either what for the bounce to have...

    IB new forex spreads

Any of the IB people care to answer the question re EURIBOR as I am afraid your rep above gave a factually incorrect answer.

    IB new forex spreads

Trading is only closed on IB for these products, not on the exchange. LIFFE has extended its hours this week and so EURIBOR now closes at 9pm London time -seems madness and wrong that IB does not allow trading on a product for a considerable period of time that the market is open.

    IB new forex spreads

I know this isn't forex related but can I go slightly off topic for a second please! Can I ask the IB guys why my platform had no EURIBOR or short sterling prices from about 7pm London time tonight? The eurodollar futures were updating fine but not these - IB were showing no bid or offers at...

    Trading for a living

A fair point and one I will attempt to answer and justify! Before I do I will say that I don't trade with any US based brokers anymore - I don't know if it is they have less ethics or it was becuase I have not actually met them but all the ones I dealt with in the US were awful. I have not dealt...

If everyone on CNBC says the euro is going to fall then I think we may have seen the bottom, at least for the time being.

    Trading for a living

Number one is the key and expresses far more articulately what I was trying to say. Having worked at a bank for years you have forgotten you trade money and instead it is a game. When I started trading for myself it became real money again. £20k down is real money and so you might not take the...

    Trading for a living

I did the same thing and would say go for it. There is a huge difference though although it is the same job in reality. As I came from a small bank background I did not miss the flows or anything like that but for the first 6 motnhs or so I was trading real money rather than just paper. That...

There are no guaranteed Stops. EVER.

The only bit of this I disagree with is the taking of two opposite positions - you didnt even need to do this. You would go through the figures square but have a stop buy entry just above the pre figure price, and a stop sell just below. When the market gapped on the figure you were then in at...

I need a Retail Spot Forex Prop company to get more $'s to trade a carry system

If you are serious then you need to answer questions like how much are you looking for, what is your experience and your track record? What strategy do you adopt and what is your maximum stop loss and exposure etc.

    IB new forex spreads

Thanks for your answer. I dare say I am just going to have to try it for myself - most of my trading is probably carried out in fast markets!

    IB new forex spreads

Could one of the IB reps answer this question on the FX platform? I have an insitutional account that I sometimes use for futures. 99% of my trading is FX but I have never used IB for this. On the link in the post above, someone from IB confirmed it can take 3 seconds for an order to be...

IB liquidity providers will screw you

Have you always been impressed with Oanda when it is volatile? I have 4 brokers/market makers on at all times in case of problems. I then can cover a position a position with one counterparty even if it is open with another, if for some reason there is a problem with the original...

IB liquidity providers will screw you

Why? I rarely trade futures and have never traded fx on IB. So please tell me why I would have knowledge of these order types? On spot fx all I do is either hit a bid or offer or leave a stop loss or stop entry. I am a simple being. I apologise for not having a greater knowledge but...

IB liquidity providers will screw you

30 pips (not a big post number move I am sure you will agree) on £5m or Eur5m is $15k. If you traded 1/2m you would need to make 30 pips on one figure a month to pay for the cost of the terminal. The rest of the month it is free. I can not understand anyone who trades not paying for a...

IB liquidity providers will screw you

Is this true? It can take 3 seconds for a trade to be confirmed? Is it not autoamatic but requires a dealer to manually accept the trade?

IB liquidity providers will screw you

I use market news and have a Bloomberg terminal. I appreciate your comments. I know the rates move fast after the numbers but have been trading fx for 15 years and do most of my trading when it is at its most volatile. For instance I dealt today as soon as the CPI numbers were released and...
