4XIS4U Cool. Yet another way to measure volatility. Works pretty well as a scanning parameter for the daily charts too. Many thanks.

AM is wound up pretty tight

BB(80) and BB(21) are shown. When I say "tight," in this case I mean TIGHT. <img src="http://mysite.verizon.net/vzepr9fe/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/am.jpg">

Volume -- I'd like to learn more about it

Agree. Makes sense. Especially if the volume is waaay below average. And yet, would it make a big difference if the av. vol. were, say, 1 million shares, and the current volume were 500K? Probably not, right? It's entirely possible I'm missing something here. The subtlties of volume are (still)...

Volume -- I'd like to learn more about it

The upshot is that I should filter stocks for a certain average volume -- 150k, 200k . . . more?

Volume -- I'd like to learn more about it

You're saying that those who are accumulating a stock in a strong sector will try hard to keep volume average so as not to attract attention. But as volume stays at this more or less "unremarkable" level, how do I find out that accumulation is underway? They are accumulating as the stock slowly...

Great! That'll be next on my to-do list. Thanks.

Volume -- I'd like to learn more about it

Thanks for your comments, Batterup. I'm aware that opinions diverge on the volume/price question, and I need to hear both sides. Volume may turn out to be a wallflower, but if I don't look into it I'll always have the nagging sense that I might have missed something. :(

Thank you. I'll try to bear your comments in mind.

Volume -- I'd like to learn more about it

Right. I recall that Wyckoff has quite a bit to say about volume, but I had forgotten about him. Thanks.

Volume -- I'd like to learn more about it

I understand why they would want to conceal their activity. And yet what you say also accounts for the congestion patterns where volume increases steadily and noticably. So, for lack of an ability to see what is invisible, I'll have to settle for those. Interesting. Are you at liberty to...

Volume -- I'd like to learn more about it

I’m a later-comer to the interpretation of volume. Although I’ve seen some heated discussions about volume here on ET, I’d like to direct a couple of questions to members who keep an eye on it and are glad that they do. My immediate goal is to find out more about accumulation (or the...

    Other TA forums

What other TA forums/boards do you frequent? Lately I've been to Ihub and Clearstation, but I'm sure there are many others. I don't mind registering at a site but paying for the privilege of posting is out of the question. TIA.

balda -- A very good resource, and a timely tip because I've had "the market" on my mind a lot. Now I understand your entry on 11/2 a little better. I copied the good doctor's strategy and GMI definition over into MSWord just in case the blog ever goes down. Thanks again.

balda -- thanks for the URL. I read Darvas a while ago and then didn't follow through. This looks like an interesting place. I'll check it out later today or tomorrow.

Yes, it does. At least as of yesterday's close. I had been reading some stuff about volatility contractions and was basically interested in the coil -- to see how it would resolve. So it moved South, which is fine with me. I don't own the stock. The question in my mind is: would I have...

Were your conditions also met around 10-01-04 and 5-16-05? By the way, 11-02-05 is not exactly what I would call late to the party. Nice call.

I appreciate your response. Maybe you could let me know whether I've got it right. It took me a while -- a good while -- to start using "the market" almost like an indicator. When you say "bottom," I assume you mean "dip," Is that correct? Or do you really mean that you wait for an important...

TIE is a good-looking chart if I ever saw one. I had to chuckle when I opened it because there was a notation on it. So yes, if you care to comment further on TIE, I'd be very interested to hear what you have to say. Take about textbook trends!

balda -- Oh, sure, no doubt about it. The market woke up and KERX fell asleep. That's plain as pie. The market was clealry directional, KERX was clearly consolidating. :D Who knows what the market will do tomorrow; who knows what KERX will do? But there's a point where sideways morphs...
