How Much Are Your Costs Per Share

The error in your assumption is that you think he's a retail trader. He obviously isn't. In case you haven't figured it out he's a Canadian prop trader with a profit split. He's already shown that in his numbers, he was extremely up front about it. And one other observation: If he were a...

Daytrading leads to Inevitable Failure? Is Swing Trading the only Viable Path?

You either have an money making edge or you don't. The time frame is irrelevant. You could be making money with 10 second holding periods or 10 month holding periods. It doesn't matter. Every strategy is different with its own set of risk parameters that you as a trader need to adapt to. To...

    Letter from a Dodge Dealer

It's pretty funny to see the right wingers whine about this guy going down, ie. not getting bailed out, and at the same time rant about the great Obama Socialist Conspiracy. Chrysler filed for Chap 11. The dealers are going to get screwed regardless of whatever else happens as part of...

Credit Card Companies Plan On Punishing Cutomers Who Don't Carry Balances

Now that the bill has passed we will see that this was all corporate scare tactics, much like we see anytime there is an attempt at regulation. The credit card industry is a cartel and thinks big fat profits are an entitlement. In the end they will be very profitable, instead of obscenely...

Hedge Fund Manager Strikes Back at Obama

So let me get this straight. Some hedge fund managers gaming a gov't bailout lose and you call this is authoritarianism. Especially when the losers still had the right to recourse in court but chose not to. But the last guy in office tapped my phones without court supervision and reserved the...

You get < .0002 at Echo and 100%? I find that hard to believe.

    Problems running automated strategies live

Whenever you take a trade you need to be logging every parameter that matters at the time the trade was taken. Otherwise you will never be able to figure out why your live results deviate from your simulated results.

Calling all Echo and Bright traders

I see no difference since Merrill took over clearing (not took over Echo). Nice try slipping in some ambiguous misinformation though Don. I know you didn't intend anything misleading. LOL

I'm 99% automated with Sterling, so I just don't do that much manual trading anymore. To do what you say you'd click a price above what you wanted and then click SELL or SELL SHRT. Like jnbadger said you might not be able to control the routing, it might go to the destination you clicked...

Yes with a hotkey. Not so sure with a mouse click. Or you could write a program for the API to do this.

I've never seen anything like IB's booktrader in Sterling. If you are trading fixed size it is possible to point at a price in your L2 and then click buy or sell, but it looks like an L2 window, not like the ladder that is in booktrader.

Socialised health care in Canada poll

This is true on its face but not in practice. If you get in a car wreck and end up in an ER, you will probably get treated and the hospital will eat the cost, assuming you have no assets for them to come after. If you get cancer and are uninsured you are out of luck. In some places, there...

Socialised health care in Canada poll

IMO, the best system is a private health care system where insurance companies are not regulated by the state and must provide a variety of policies that people want to gain customers. This means that people who can only afford and who judge that they only need catastrophe insurance are able to...

Socialised health care in Canada poll

I think a better poll would be this: 1) Do you prefer Canadian healthcare to US employer based healthcare? No employer based US healthcare is superior. 2) Do you prefer Canadian healthcare to US individual based healthcare? Yes absolutely. And therein lies the rub. Employer based...

Yes you can do that with the API. How easy it is depends on your programming skills. It isn't 'trivial', but not hard if you have some experience with the API.
