A list of all scam unregulated 3rd party educational vendors

I've read very little of this thread but the definition of the word scam implies fraud and I'm sure that legally, few trading sites would meet the definition. Most of these 'educational' sites are simply rehashes/exaggerations of existing trading theories, stuff that is freely available out...

Who is today's hottest talking head?

Oh .... I thought you were talking about hot women. Speaking of, I wouldn't characterize her as 'hot' -- though she is and they have been 'packaging' her more than I'd like -- but, extremely appealing both in appearance and persona/content, my vote goes to: Margaret Brennan of Bloomberg, no...

When does IB deliver it's tax forms online?

I was reminded about and should probably mention re my above comment, that IRA's can be looked at by the IRS when considering wash sales: page 60 of IRS Publication 550: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p550.pdf

When does IB deliver it's tax forms online?

As an aside, I always try and confine my more active trading to the IRA accounts, so I don't even have to deal with the accounting and taxes. For the cash accounts, I have moved mostly to futures, with extreme selectivity and also, (what I think will be) longer term equity holds.

When does IB deliver it's tax forms online?

Re, the # of transactions or $ amount that TurboTax will allow; I'm pretty sure that has changed -- gotten larger -- in the last two years but I don't know to what. Same with electronic filing I believe .... you can have a larger # of transactions than before -- I think -- and still submit...

When does IB deliver it's tax forms online?

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the discussion. I for one, definitely need that TurboTax link. Perhaps my filing an extension will pay off again .....

    The APPLE Crash

Not much difference with the competitors, anyone who is highly dependent on China for manufacturing and distribution has this as a potential issue IMO. Thought 'my point' was obvious.

    The APPLE Crash

The one problem I have with AAPL, other than always taking profits on it too soon, rather than hanging on to some for 'the long run', is that, IMO, they are too heavily dependent on and leveraged to, China. The same is true for lots of business. If anything 'happens' over there Vs. AAPL or...

    The APPLE Crash

Yes, buying the dip -- using indexes -- usually eventually works if you use some discretion and avoid buying during 'obvious' distribution and downtrend days/periods, managing your risk with position size and patience, assuming you have enough capital and don't have to be frenetically generating...

    The APPLE Crash

My guess is yes when you factor in the countries where the growth prospects are still large, the upgrade cycles, the brand name 'love', the coming 'TV', the profits from media, the notebook puters', etc. At any rate, my approach with them is 'dumb' .... keep buying the dip (though few...

    The APPLE Crash

Trade this stock/company on the 'technicals' at your own risk. Until something changes with the business prospects/valuation, I will buy the dip and sell the move back up, in conservative amounts.

Is it just me or all indicators work?

For me, most of the time, they are simply indicative of price action and can help you see that better. Are they predictive? Only to the extent that the current price action and trend are. And in a crazed news driven environment, don't become overly dependent on the technicals at all.

Is cash no longer fully insured in an IB account ?

Thanks ... not sure I'm willing to take my paranoia to that level, especially with TD and their banks but I'll look into it. Then there is the question of whether the SPIC would agree to cover the insurance of funds that were 'derived' from futures sales, in an IB failure or overall domino...

Is cash no longer fully insured in an IB account ?

So with the new development, I guess I am still uncertain whether the SPIC would cover the insurance for cash swept from the sale of futures contracts over into the 'equities area.' So, I'm going to assume the worst for now and continue with my plan to not co-mingle equities and futures in one...

I am seriously thinking of shorting oil long term

Could work though I'd be concerned about Geo-political going forward - the Middle East. If you really think Oil is going down, why not just go long equities instead? Won't there be a big stock (techs) rally if oil trends down?

Bush gets Saudis to pump more oil!!

No, bad move. I guess we did get the token 300k increase though - throw the dog a bone. This 'negotiating' should have gone on behind closed doors which means no press leaks (unless the President actually wants us to know he tried which would be scary).

    Help setting stops

I don't trade forex but have looked at it recently. If you're asking these questions, you may want to paper trade at first. Some people tout the 'more straightforwardness' of currencies but there's PLENTY of variables.
