    Euro/Cable intra-day trading

Hi, Fibonacci numbers model market behavior quite accurately. However static systems such fibonacci retracements (and pivot points) have their limitations in intra-day trading. What is needed is a dynamic fib system where fibonacci support and resistance levels are calculated on the fly...

    Euro/Cable intra-day trading

I'm not sure I can do the tabulations on ET. Without them, it is not obvious how I arrived at the key fib level. Regards Morty

Hi, You can get at least 12 hours of 1 minute data for any date going back many years (depending on currency). Go into GTS charting (FXSol) and set the time and interval manually, uncheck auto update. Best regards Morty

    Trading EUR/USD

Day after day of thin volumes on the future exchanges in August. Probably the same in Spot (but you can't measure it). If they ain't on vacation, what are they doing? Now c'mon big boys let's get down to sizeable trades intraday! We don't want another 84 pip range, midnight-to-midnight on NFP...

    Trading EUR/USD

Difficult to say for Euro - lack of data. 'Seasonal' probably a bit strong. There is little doubt that the return of traders from vacation and the end of the fiscal year prompt trends..... Judge, may I dutifully submit exhibit A for the jury's perusal and delectation...

    EURO/USD acting ERRATIC!

One contributory factor is the thin volumes we've seen over the last two weeks. I'm looking forward to September when the big boys are back at their desks following their vacations. Isn't there an old stockbroker saying about going away in May and coming back in September? I have a web...

is buying GBP/USD at this level a good trade?

Hi, I can't predict the future anymore than you can! Providing there isn't an overshoot somewhere around 1.71 is the most likely. I accept all you say but I don't use any of this information to trade myself. I admit to knowing nothing. I blot out information that would give crossed...

is buying GBP/USD at this level a good trade?

Thanks. There is a possibility Cable may drop another 500 to 700 pips before it reverses. The difference between long and short commercial future contracts is a very potent indicator for the future direction of the spot market. For Cable, the difference needs to be around +/- 50,000...

is buying GBP/USD at this level a good trade?

I would wait until the commercial traders have built up a sizable long position in future contracts. See http://www.cftc.gov/cftc/cftccotreports.htm (CME Long Form). These traders are often early but rarely wrong. Once they are significantly long, you should wait for a technical signal. I hope...

    Most volitile time for EUR/USD

I agree, I traded the Euro up to the figure this morning.

    Most volitile time for EUR/USD

Most volatile Euro period = 8 to 9 ET: This is mainly due to data releases. The news embargo is most often lifted at 08:30 ET. The better data releases to trade (at the moment) are NFP, Retail Sales, CPI, Durable Goods, GDP and Chicago PMI. These give a fairly predictable 30 pip...

How long will it take to turn a $5,000 account into $100,000?

Thanks, I didn't know that. Perhaps someone needs to write the sequel to the first book! I just checked on Amazon and couldn't find any new books. I must of missed this in the financial press. Thanks Morty

How long will it take to turn a $5,000 account into $100,000?

Hi, I have been following this thread from the beginning and it has thrown up a huge diversity of opinion. I am sure market moves are very non-linear and chaotic. They probably cannot be modeled for any length of time eg Long Term Capital Management. The essence of FX trading is trying to...

How long will it take to turn a $5,000 account into $100,000?

I had a bit of fun with the 5,000 to 100,000 puzzle. Treating it as such - a puzzle. High leverage is a retail phenomenon. Professionals would think 100:1 over-leveraged eg in retail spot Forex (my specialization), 1,000 USD initial margin gives you 100,000 USD to play with. Or, put another...

How long will it take to turn a $5,000 account into $100,000?

I have an answer using a Forex example and compounding. For this to work, the initial trade must generate a profit approximately equal to the initial margin plus stop size. For the Euro, this would be 1,000 plus 300 = 1,300 initial margin. Therefore the first trade would be three standard...

How long will it take to turn a $5,000 account into $100,000?

Hi, The downside stops you doing this quickly. It is possible to leverage to the hilt (400:1) and make this profit in short order but....... take a few losing trades and you get taken out big time. I am an independent FX trader. I have a non-commercial website that deals with this issue...
