    Is capitulation at hand ?

I'll go out on a limb and predict we are very close to the low for NASDAQ. Monday was brutal. The selling has continued unmercifully and NASDAQ is now blatantly oversold. With the FED meeting next week and the expectation of lower interest rates, I do not think investors will be able to resist...

    Is capitulation at hand ?

Zboy - good point about DOW and S&P. There hasn't been the extreme volatility in those indexes when compared to NASDAQ and I hope it continues. Lately, investors have been putting their money in stocks with steady earnings in a recessionary environment such as Philip Morris (MO). If the DOW and...

    Is capitulation at hand ?

Any opinions on whether this is the bottom for NASDAQ ? I certainly didn't anticipate the blood bath we experienced today - at least not to this degree. From a contrarian point of view, perhaps this is a good thing - and a market recovery will begin just as many folks have given up hope. If...

Informal Poll - Will FED cut interest rates this week ?

If there was ever a time to cut interest rates, now is the time. Assuming of course the FED wants to do everything possible to avoid a recession. It's just my opinion but I think psychology is at play here... the FED doesn't want to appear to be reactive in any manner. Thus - do nothing for the...

Informal Poll - Will FED cut interest rates this week ?

Despite the fervor for another intermeeting interest rate cut, the probability still appears quite low IMO. I just hope Greenspan provides commentary today that gives investors some sense of optimism looking forward. Otherwise, it's a scary thought as to how a disappointed market will react...

Informal Poll - Will FED cut interest rates this week ?

My vote is no. It will be interesting to see how the market reacts if that is the case. If a surprise rate cut actually does occur - I'm curious as to the degree the news has already been discounted by the market. What are trader strategies in times like this ? ;)...

    Time and Sales - QCharts

Thanks Dustin. It just frustrates me for the information to be sitting there (i.e. large block trade) and I have no way to interpret it at the most basic level - i.e. huge buy went through or huge sell went through. Here we have some significant market action - but no way to analyze it. :(

Dustin - thanks for the information. Interesting info on the mechanics of a market maker moving a large order. "Finally, after several hours, the market maker will accumulate the 100k shares in his own account, and will then transfer these shares, as a block, out of his/her account and into...

    Time and Sales - QCharts

When you place a NASDAQ trade, it is through a market maker. So you are buying from or selling to a market maker. A stock that you sell to a market maker may be the same stock that I buy from a market maker. They are two separate transactions. I really wish I knew whether that large trade...

    Time and Sales - QCharts

With QCharts - is there a way to determine whether a trade is a buy or sell ? It's obvious for the trades that are made at the bid or ask. But what about trades made between the bid and ask ? Also - I've been following a small wireless stock (WLGS) - and there have been some large trades...

I called FreeTradez [toll-free 1-877-ZIP-ZERO (947-9376)]a few minutes ago and spoke with a representative. She said they were working long hours preparing for full launch.
