    TradeStation 8 vs. 2000i

Major differences are... 1. With TS2ki you buy the software and that's it. With TS8 you have a monthly fee. Though see above re. getting TS8 for free. 2. With TS2ki you have the database on your local PC. You need to buy data for your database, maintain it and get a realtime data...

Yes. Though you'll obviously still pay exchange fees.

    Faster Processing For Backtesting?

How long your optimizations take will depend on 1. how much data you're processing 2. how many optimization iterations you are going through 3. how well your code is written If you're processing on 1 min data, can you move to 5 min? Your optimization will be 5 times faster. Then if...

    Tradestation codes

If you do 'File', 'Open Workspace...' from the TS menu there are some example workspaces provided by TS (can't remember which one's they are). This forum doesn't allow the uploading of TS workspaces. You'd be better off asking on the TS forums.

    System security with Tradestation

Your strategies are held on your local PC. TS doesn't have access to them. They can, or course, take the buy/sell orders you send to them and try and work out what your strategy is but that's the same for any broker. If anyone thinks TS has some secret software that is copying their hard...

Odds Czar: Simple Biases in the Futures Markets 2005

Art, Thanks for sharing this. It's great to see a thread on Elite remain civilised. I haven't looked in detail yet but I just have some initial questions... What kind of stops are you using on your performance reports? Is this just buy at open/sell at close? Also, in the peformance...

New Tradestation threshold for free data

My understanding (though I accept I may be wrong) is that this plan starts on 1st December and TS usually go back a month i.e. if you've done 10 round-trips in November then you wont pay for December.

New Tradestation threshold for free data

...almost right. :) TS actually stamps its data down to 1 second. But the client applications currently only handle time down to 1 minute.

New Tradestation threshold for free data

With minute and above data it all just comes from the TS network. There's no need to store anything. Though you can download all their data and save it to ASCII files if you want. With tick data it's stored in a local cache on your PC and you can build it up as long as you want. Several...

New Tradestation threshold for free data

I don't trade stocks so I don't know about ECN books but I thought these fees were all exchange fees i.e. nothing to do with the broker. TS prices (per month) are Nasdaq Level 1 - $1 Nasdaq Level 2 - $9 ECN Books - $20 IB prices are Nasdaq Level 1 - $10 Nasdaq Level 2 - $20...
