How to start your own broker/dealer firm

17 mils is .17/100 shares. Stocks are quoted in .01, or $1.00/100 shares . So, 50 mils, or .005, round trip would be break even if you buy a stock at 20.00 and sell it at 20.01. 25 mils, or .0025, is a good rate, but it relates to .25/100 shares, not 1000 shares. I could be wrong, I still...

How to start your own broker/dealer firm

So, you have been paying $0.20 when you buy 1000 shares for 7 years? I've spoken to many prop firms over the past few months getting to know them. The rates THEY pay that they mark up to their traders is higher than that, and they are CBSX members buying bulk rates. If your zero is in the...

How to start your own broker/dealer firm

I hate to correct people on the threads, but 1/2 mil is .0005 per 1000. So if I buy 1000 shares it would cost $0.50. 5 mils or .005 is closer to what firms like IB charges. The funny thing is, just 2 years ago it was common for day traders to pay over .01. These lower rates are all very new...

Anyone using Windows XP to output 4 monitors?

Win xp 32 can access 4GB of RAM, but not all is available for programs. Some is reserved for the operating system. Win xp 64, if you can find a copy, I use one, has the same limits as win 7, a lot. More ram than you can fit on a standard motherboard. For those running fast quad video cards...

    Portfolio / Fund Management

Finish college for yourself, not a job. Challenge yourself in school and then in life. Learning and education are important. However, I would not give up the day job if you can get it. I worked through most of college at a brokerage firm, and all of grad school. School never helped me get a job...

How to start your own broker/dealer firm

I would like to talk to a customer or BD, going direct to any Prime Broker that received 1 mil for clearance only, let alone clearance and execution which has an added fee. (Execution pays for the DMA routing fees to the ECNs.) I'm impressed if that's true.

    Portfolio / Fund Management

My advise is to finish your college degree part time/night and work days if you can make over $100K. I know college not right for everyone, but you never know what you'll want to do in ten years that might require it. Get the most out of both. Good luck....stay away from eating bugs!

    zerolinetrader?

Very cool and very disciplined. I've not seen that order type before. The closest I've seen is Order Triggers Order, OTO, but that would only place an order for your target price, not a stop. Thanks again....

how to buy pink sheets/otc stocks

With any broker, in any of these stocks, liquidity will always be a cost of doing business. Very difficult to trade. The market makers that control these markets, have a big edge.

How to start your own broker/dealer firm

CBSX is easier to join, then ARCA. FINRA membership is the most difficult and the one that has the most value. I wish you luck. I was an AMEX member for over 25 years. I was VERY happy to give up my BD.

How to start your own broker/dealer firm

You are absolutely correct in some parts, but may be jumping to incorrect conclusions in others. The "code" is the client's proprietary trading logic that decides what orders should be sent to the broker and when such orders should be sent. 99.999% of professional clients view such code as...

    margin requirements on uncovered calls

For those of you with customer portfolio margin accounts, the occ website is a great resource for calculation of haircut for CPM. Not all prime brokers use this calculation, some are stricter. http://www.theocc.com/risk-management/cpm/

Has InteractiveBrokers (IB) EVER acknowledged and/or fixed an issue you reported?

I hate to defend TWS, since I don't offer it to my clients directly. But, there is no better free platform that enables you to trade almost everything from one screen and from one broker. There are, in my clients opinion, better ways to chart, better equity platforms, better option platform...

How to start your own broker/dealer firm

We have access to many routes including sponsored direct access for some clients. (that is the fastest). Nothing would make me happier than just posting a price for everything, but everyone's requirements, volumes, equity are different. This all is custom tailored to the client. If anyone...

How to start your own broker/dealer firm

I guess that is possible. Have you ever heard anyone doing that? Our clients have their own code on their computer or server connected to either an API or direct connect into a FIX connection. We would never ask for the clients code. I would love to tell you that my competitors do, but I've...

    Victor Securities.....who are we?

My intent is never to insult anyone. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Everyone has their own expectations from their broker. I was being told that if I did not publish my rates, I'm doing something wrong. Everyone should due their own investigations into who they are doing business...

How to start your own broker/dealer firm

What benefit would your receive from being a member when many firms offer DMA to their customers without the cost and requirements for membership? I can give you access to all US exchanges with FULL pass through of ECN Rebates, without membership.
