    Charting price range

When I'm looking at a chart, I like to be able to see a constant price range, not something that is set automatically by the charting software. Otherwise if the price goes from 1000 to 1005 in one day, it will look just the same as if it went from 1000 to 1100 if the y scale is selected...

    Mytrack functionality question

Thanks Jerry, not only are you very helpful with your Quotetracker, you're even helping us here. I hope you continue to have a lot of success with your software. Yes, I was looking for intraday volume for the SPZ3 contracts. Not end of day volume. I've attached a chart from Esignal to show...

    Mytrack functionality question

Does anyone happen to know if intraday volume is available from Mytrack for the full size SP Futures contracts from the CME? I've sent a couple of emails to Mytrack to ask them but I've never gotten a response. I'd like to try to follow the "Emini Divergence Journal" from here.

    Automated TWS startup

Here's a picture of a Macroexpress Script that calls up IB TWS. It's set to call up the demo TWS but you can substitute your own username and password. The details are shown for the first step, "program launch". Occasionally when TWS is updated the "program path/name" changes so you have to...

    IB Commissions

I've worked with several discount brokers and none of them come anywhere near the quality, speed and reliablility of Interactive Brokers. The worst I've seen is that for a few seconds maybe once or twice a week I lose my connection to them. I always have a protective stop anyway, but whats the...

    Emini divergence journal

Thank you very much Maverick for sending the Ensign template, it works good. I took a short with the system at 11:50 for 1027.25. I wasn't too confident about the signals though. The chicken oscillator showed regular divergence and the ADX was above 30. However, as far as I would interpret...

    Emini divergence journal

Maverick, Thank you, I tried your suggestion but my chicken oscillator still came out incorrect. If you happen to have an Ensign template, could I bother you to send it to elderhmp@hotmail.com ? MarkB, Thank you, I wasn't doing the MACD of the price but the MACD of the Accumulation...

    Emini divergence journal

Has anyone managed to make the chicken oscillator work on Ensign? Ensign doesn't have a chicken oscillator so I tried the MACD oscillator of the accumulation distribution. AD set for 7 and MACD set for 3 and 10. However it comes out different than what I see posted from NPP.

    Win2000... Automated Start and Stop??

I've used Macroexpress with a lot of success to log on to TWS etc. I did have problems with interference between Macroexpress and Metaserver (used to retrieve equity data) so in some cases I'll use a program called Windows Scheduler.

Do you tell people you're a trader?

According to Webster's Dictionary: Investor: Someone who invests Invest: to put money to a use expected to yield a profit or income When I finally become a full time trader and people ask me what I do for a living, I was just going to call myself an Investor. If they ask what I invest in, I...

    Emini divergence journal

No__pm, I appreciate that you're sharing your method with us. You mentioned in a previous post about having problems with being awake during trading hours. For instance you found it difficult to wake up early to trade when you had to work late the night before. I too, have to work odd hours...

Cheap CME full size SP futures contract data

I'd like to get access to real time data for the full size S&P futures contracts. I have data from Interactive Brokers but they only offer data for the emini SP futures, not the full size SP futures. Does anyone have an idea about the cheapest way I could subscribe to this data?

    Help building my first PC

I tried to trade a little bit last year with a single computer but it was difficult enough learning how to trade and then having to deal with lost internet connections, power outages and computer failures. Once I had to wait for three weeks for the computer shop to repair my computer. I had...

Chasing the Bid/Ask with Interactive Brokers

Basically I want to be able to exit with a Market Order plus/minus one tick. For instance, if I was in a long position and I want to exit the trade when the bid is 998.5 and the ask is 998.75. If I place a market order to close, I would likely get sold at the bid of 998.5. If the price dropped...

Chasing the Bid/Ask with Interactive Brokers

Yes, it would be nice if I could just place an order to short it with the chase turned on once I hit my target. However, with any IB order entry program I've seen, once you've placed an order to buy, the sell or sell at the ask button is no longer available, you only have a close button.

Chasing the Bid/Ask with Interactive Brokers

There are a lot of nice new interfaces available now for order execution with Interactive Brokers. One nice feature that a lot of them have is the ability to chase the bid or ask when entering an order. For instance if the bid is 995.25, I can send an order to buy at the bid. About half the time...

    Opposite of covered calls?

I understand that covered calls are a nice way to make money on stocks that you own. The strategy will work fairly well in a rising or sideways market. How about in a declining market? Is there a strategy similar to covered calls that will make money in a falling stock market?

    Windows XP: Home or Pro?

I've heard of traders running three, four or more computers all at once for trading. They have each computer loaded with Windows XP and Microsoft Office. If they actually bought separate legal licences for each computer it could be very expensive. Most traders are smart enough to find ways of...
