Nice references. I've always been a fan of Dr. Elder's. He's got an amazing story to tell. The accecdotal connection between psychology and trading has been around a long time. More than anything else, this confirms that the mind's preception is colored by current emotion. If you've ever read...

Great Idea - If I were trading, I would likely be a daily poster. Looks like a fun thread.

A rough day for sure. I give you credit for putting up a good fight with the bears today. Just remember you can make as much money loving the bear as you can loving the bull. You've posted a 5 min chart, but I sense your trading decisions are coming from a shorter time frame chart. You have a...

World needs to stay vigilant about active depreciation of the dollar

Nice article - I'm with ya - I live here too. I guess the politicization of this issue is a bit hard to fathom. Dudleys Oct. 1st Speech The financial "rocket scientists" created the current mess at the behest of FED's core constituency. It's hard to believe that this will end well. Clearly the...

World needs to stay vigilant about active depreciation of the dollar

Great Article. It's a chuckle to think that the international community can have any more influence on the US $ than the current US legislation can on influencing Yuan rates. Neither the US nor China will win a trade war. The $/Yuan rates are easy to align. All that is needed is for China to...

There's a lesson in the Coffee Trade, but that doesn't take away the frustration. This is water off a ducks back for you because I know you've got your emotions under control. I chuckle thinking about old days flirting with "The Vacation Trade". I think every trader does a few of these. :)...

What will be the catalyst to cause the markets to drop?

Trade War with China - Both the US and China will lose - The Chinese will dump US treasures faster then the Fed can buy them back. China can manage its political instability with guns. Not sure what will happen here. It seems a bit odd that companies in China that produce exports are...

Ha! The 10,000 hour thing is a hoot. :) I think the real truth behind this that if someone survives 10,000 hrs, they will make it. In 97, I met Joe DiNapoli (a big proponent of Fib's and DMA's) at a futures conference. He had some great stories to tell. He said trading was a 5 / 50 proposition...

Jack - Thanks for the rules sheet. Right now I'm using my brokers plain vanilla chart pkg - Can't do the Pareto stuff (color change automation), but I can work around that. When I get time to set things up, I will try this approach in SIM :)

Hmmm - I've seen some pretty interesting charts that utilize Gann style web overlays. Markets are fractal. There are many techniques that help find order in what initially looks like chaotic squiggly lines :) But my own approach (currently under review) is only partially based on technical analysis.

Jack - I've inserted a few comments below - My beliefs are not as far from yours as you might think. At this point, I'm really putting all my market beliefs on the table for a useful review. I also have to say that I do respect the OP's point of view as well. Also much of the honest comments...

Jack - Thanks for your reply - I have to chuckle, I was writing a reply to you as you were composing one to my prior. :) Your words and comments reflect wisdom, irregardless of the "show me the money" issues out there. Food for careful thought for sure. I've always maintained that if one...

Jack - Your points have been well made. I believe that most (who have been able to grasp key elements) have to recognize the potential as well as the challenge of building out expertise / experience necessary to move towarda 100% in the market approach. At larger fractals this becomes position...

coool & EP - These quotes are priceless :p jinxu - Have you gathered any lessons here? Or do you just plan to brute force the markets into submission? We can all feel your pain. Many here offered advice to help you avoid some of it. The old saying is: "If you're gonna be dumb, you've got to...

TW - Anyone who's done any research understands that going "commercial" is not for the faint of heart. Your background, focus, experiences come from the professional side. If a trading approach can't be modeled, back-tested, (then forward tested / traded) to quantify results - it won't pass...

Jack - You're scaring the CW (conventional wisdom) out of folks with these remarks. A quick look at Dodd-Frank gives the same feeling of panic as the original thinking behind TARP. TARP's original intent - as best as I can remember - was the creation of auction markets to keep the toxic OTC...
