    Commisions for ES

opening an account with velocity was a breeze. and am loving the TT feed/Sierra; whatever they are doing in the background, am never going back to tos; they could even be better than NT+Mirus. Cant tell why.. fills are awesome. I have been seeing my orders getting filled when there are like...

    eSignal vs IQ Feed

+1 Ive used esignal in the past and have moved to IQ feed about 2 years ago. Other than the fact that i need to pay up 90$/mo i love it. 5 years down the lane data will be cheaper but for now IQFeed is best. Did not try kinnetic but its no good for me; it only feeds into NT.

What to make of this strategy?

Are you comfortable holding IWM if it goes from about 80 to say 60? how about 40? 20? How long can you hold and how much can you hold. If you are comfortable then yes? IWM is as good as any other index product. -gariki

What to make of this strategy?

Its a good strategy for stock you want to own long term. But horrible if you dont like the stock at a particular (current) price. Cause worst case you get assigned on the first sold put at price X and the underlying goes from X-your-sold-put-price (your cost basis) to zero while you hold it. You...

    Commisions for ES

by ib do you mean interactive brokers or "introducing broker". Agree with your statement that cost is not everything which is why i am trying to find someone reliable but paying as low as i can. i am also looking now at velocity with sierra (round trip around 3.50). -gariki

    selling/buying ES options ?

if you hit the bid you will most likely be filled. I hardly do that size but based on volume traded this morning and the current market depth info; i wouldnt thing it would be a problem. -gariki

Anything better than Excel for data analysis?

check this out: http://powerpivot.com/ But i think it needs external data sources to work through the limitation; not sure. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/office2010/thread/ef8eaae1-8215-4f78-8333-7325319c4d68

If you want to lose fat (for real)

+1 and coconut oil is one of the good fats. I once read a few books deciphiring all the fads floating around not eating full fats etc and one of the key points i still remember is that like you have figured; saturated fats are not really bad. Infact coconut oils properties that make it...

is Ninja/Ritimic better than tos for filling orders in ES?

some day i will figure out why exactly fills on mirus/nt seem better than on tos. But this one is pure beauty.. http://chaitanya-garikiparthi.blogspot.com/2011/07/now-this-is-beauty.html

    trading odd lots

So is it true that in a prop account you cannot trade odd lots? I am reading my firms agreement but i am not sure i understand it right. I am asking because in my systems i am using fixed fractional scheme for trade alloacation and it seems to be slightly more profitable than trading lot...

    Commisions for ES

i actually opened a Lightspeed account this week and have also closed it out (no ladder on their platform). Velocity sounds like round trip is around 3.50 and they offer a sierra charts that has a ladder also. Not sure how good it is etc; am going to give them a shot sometime (maybe). But...

successful traders: did you have a mentor?

the best mentor you can ever find is going to be yourself. There are tons of backtesting platforms - try a few and stick with anyone that suits you best (i can recommend amibroker with a full heart); find one and test it to death. As you are doing it keep learning about system testing and...

Disappointed.. No ladder/dome on lightspeed platform (for futures)

I was a bit excited today about putting out my trades on lightspeed.. but it did not last very long. Cannot believe they dont have a ladder/dome. AFAIAC its impossible to day trade futures without a ladder. Order entry needs too many clicks and even with shortcuts its not visual enough. I...

    Prop firm agreements and losses

good. exactly what i was looking for. Ofcourse if i end up loosing money above and beyond the deposit its the firms loss and they get to use it (not that i intend to loose :); infact i dont have any rolling 3 month period in the past few years that i am in a hole but just checking what the rules...

    Prop firm agreements and losses

and if you get a K1, will you be able to deduct losses from ordinary income. Are they subject to the 3000$ limit or if i file as a trader then losses exceeding them can be written off?

ThinkOrSwim , any tips on futures/forex?

jeez.. reading this it hit me that its possible that p&l in my account has been not at all as i expect it to be. Over weeks it seems to correct itself out; and i was thinking its an artifact of option not traded or so since they were somewhat far in terms of expiry. about 4-6months away. But...

hey TIKITRADER, nice thread. when you were going to post the final price and part list can you also provide a link to what you think a comparable pre-built system is (ofcourse comparable only monetarily; minus the satisfaction of building it yourself). thanks! -kcgoogler

John Carter - Hubert Senters - tradethemarkets.com SCAMS?

How glad i am. I've been on their trial about 5 years ago when i started looking at trading and having coded some of their systems have seen what kind of crap these guys were selling for hundreds of dollars. Infact the systems they were selling were copied from some board online; dont recollect...
