Bernanke To Extend Short Term Loans Made To Financial Institutions..

Sad but true ... And Libertad: beautifully said, couldn't agree more with you guys. Gnome & Libertad: Not sure if this is the right thread, but I'm just wondering, since we're obviously on the same page: how are you guys protecting your personal wealth ? Are you taking any steps to minimize...

    What's ahead of us...

"it's a very questionable practice in life to have a financial system that made so much money in the good days, and when something goes wrong ,the government bails them out", i love that quote by Faber in that vid

Sovereign Wealth Funds and the U.S. financial crisis.

Of course the US is reluctant to take China's dollars. They can print their own. They don't want to sell their industry to China to receive paper they can print themselves. And that's the exact reason China DOES want to invest in the US. They have all these dollars that are becoming less worth...

WTF - Fortis, RBC, Barclays, GS - all calling for a FINANCIAL MELTDOWN!!!!

People should realize that the FED can create as much money as they want by one press on the keyboard. People should realize also that the FED is owned by the banks. There's no way the (big) banks are going to just sit there and go bankrupt, they use the FED to print money and transfer that to...

Fortis expects US financial meltdown in the next weeks

Totally agreed. That's exactly what's happening, FED is printing money, they don't publicate how much anymore ( http://www.federalreserve.gov/releases/h6/discm3.htm ) and use that to inflate the banks out of their problems. However, keep in mind that Fortis is mainly talking about the smaller...

Fortis expects US financial meltdown in the next weeks

Having read the whole article I must say that I indeed get that impression. The CEO is scapegoating the US for the turmoil Fortis is in. But aside from that, it's scary enough that Fortis openly states they would have been bankrupt without that 8 billion injection, it's one of the bigger banks...

Fortis expects US financial meltdown in the next weeks

I've translated the interesting parts: (first part from the previous post by GSH1976) American 'meltdown' reason for money injection Fortis. 28th of June, 9:10 BRUSSELS/AMSTERDAM - Fortis expects a complete collapse of the US financial markets within a few days to weeks. That explains...

Fortis expects US financial meltdown in the next weeks

Fortis, the belgium bank, said today in a press release that they're expecting a complete meltdown in the US financial markets. Fortis stated they almost went bankrupt themselves, but got saved by an 8 billion injection. They expect bankruptcy of 6000 US banks in the coming weeks. Sorry that the...

    What's Next....The US American Story

You pay 'tax' over there in the form of rent, which is unbelievable steep. But of course, if you make good money moving to Monaco would be a great choice. However, it's VERY, VERY hard to get into that country, since it's so small, they let only a few people in every year.

    What's Next....The US American Story

I find that VERY hard to believe. Please do supply some proof. Some of what I pay over here (Netherlands) : 1. Income tax 52% ( see http://www.worldwide-tax.com/ ) 2. A new hummer H2 car (just an example) over here costs € 109.600 (about $170,000). More than 60% of that is tax. (...

    What's Next....The US American Story

LOOOOL you dont' have a clue what you're talking about. Compare it to Europe, man, we can only DREAM about a low tax heaven like the US. I, for instance, pay 52% income tax, pay 1.70 euro (!) for one liter of gasoline (everything above 0.60 is tax), pay 3x more for a brand new car than you...

    PPT my arse

Hehe. Reading this thread makes me realize again why I make money in the markets. "Today was perfect proof PPT doesn't exist" or "Yesterday was perfect proof PPT exists" or "Today was perfect proof this company can't go bankrupt" or "Today was perfect proof this stock is going to 100" :) So many...

    PPT my arse

For everybody who's absolutely 100% sure that there's no way a PPT could ever exist: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Money_supply So, they can print as much money as they want and don't have to tell anybody about it. Well, I'm sure they won't use that to their advantage, that wouldn't be fair...

    PPT my arse

There's no real proof of existance, nor of it not existing. That's why it's pretty useless to ask each other for proof IMHO. What we DO know: * The FED is the only instance in the US that's allowed to print money * Since 2006 the FED doesn't publicate the amount of printed money anymore...

    PPT my arse

The Joab in this thread, who thinks that money has to be printed on paper and that the FED has to report the amount of printed money to 'somebody' in charge ? :) Fed doesn't publicate anything they don't want anymore and in 2006 they decided that the printed amount of money is something they do...

    PPT my arse

I never believed in anything like the PPT, but it now seems (at least to me) more logical that it DOES exist than that it doesn't.

    PPT my arse

Oh ? To who do they have to report then ? Just a few facts: * Since 2006 the FED doesn't publicize the amount of printed money anymore. Official reason: non interesting economic data * The FED isn't controlled by the government or any instance * The FED is completely owned, controlled...

What's your favorite trading quote of all time?

Not sure which book I've read this in, but I found this to be very true here on ET: "Those who don't know, speak, Those who do know are silent"

    Sterling API Developer Thread

I can only get 1200 quotes/sec on an intel dual core e6850 @ 3 ghz with my Delphi code :( So what's the deal here ? I'm sure it has to do with the COM interprocess communication, since Delphi is normally always way faster than VB code ... Anybody any ideas/suggestions ?
