Please help me build 6 monitor system

Good find, Sam! I use a few of these (not the same make but the same graphic chip). NVidia 8400 GS. Mine are with either 512MB or 1GB Ram and DDR3. But I think for what trading needs this will work just fine. Can't beat that, $7.99 to drive 2 monitors. You are our king of shopping!

Please help me build 6 monitor system

RE: By the way i understand the following components is required to build great pc? - #1) motherboard - this goes hand in hand with processor, and other features like chipset, how many expansion slots, interfaces (NIC, USB, etc.) - ram - anything above 4GB these days you would be all right...

Please help me build 6 monitor system

philipjb: For 6 monitors, I would recommend staying with just one system. If you have 12 monitors, then I would suggest to go with two. Spreading 6 monitors over 2 computers seem to be a little too much in time and money investment for what it's worth. (Remember you need to double your...

Are freestockcharts.com Compatible with Google Chrome

Hi Sam: I am not sure what's going on either. But I would suggest trying to use a different browser, such as Internet Explorer or FireFox to access freestockchart.com. I have tried using Google Chrome once. It did some weird things. I didn't like it. I had uninstalled and deleted it...

    My Home Built Multi-Monitor mount/stand - Vertical

Traderham: I use a few of these Sly SLM3202 mounts: http://slyelectronics.com/productdetails.php?prodID=208 I think they are pretty good. Fry's carries them. I think the price is $39.95 each, somewhere around there. For monitors that I don't need to pull out, I use a few Inland Pro...

    My Home Built Multi-Monitor mount/stand - Vertical

Traderham: Good job. Some of these multiple monitor fixtures cost more than the monitors themselves. I believe in spending money where it matters. I did a custom fixture. I found that the easier way for me is to use fiberboards as back support. Erect the fiberboard on top of the office...

Build Your Own - Step by Step ( i7 2600k)

The "backtesting" thing is a wildcard. If you do any kind of optimizations, which means crunch in the same math formula for hundreds of variations of different parameter settings, then it is very obvious it would be CPU intensive. Do you "need" it? Speed is always good. I think a better...

Will CPU Speed Effect Indicator Calculation

Of course the CPU speed will affect indicator calculations. Indicators - all floating point mathematics. But MACD is no big deal. It is calculations of the difference between moving averages. Not all indicators are created equal. If your indicator is based on, say Bollinger Bands (such as...

    Quiet PC

Where did you find a chassis wide enough to accommodate that heat sink? :D Oh... okay, maybe the picture was taken with a wide-angle and the shape was distorted a little bit? Also it seems that you have a micro-ATX motherboard... making the heat sink look bigger.

Please Help Me Build 12 Monitor System

Xeon versus i7-2600k... Xeon is a server-class processor. Less heat than i7. It is designed to fit in a 1u chassis. i7 needs a big heat sink. Correct me if I am wrong: dual CPU boxes running Xeon... isn't the second processor just for redundancy? I don't think they do parallel...

    Internet WiFi thru cell phone

With a 5-12 Mbps throughput, you can drive 8 monitors filled with over 100 tick charts and 3 to 4 indicators each. That's what I have, throughput-wise. If all you have is just receiving several price quote data and sending orders, even 1 Mbps would suffice. (e.g. sometimes going on a trip...

Please Help Me Build 12 Monitor System

Looks like you have 3 groups of items that are costly: #1) The computer box itself #2) The video cards #3) The 12 monitors When you said the budget is around $2000, is it just for the computer box? Or all inclusive of everything? My 3 boxes are self-built with i7 processors. Each...

Please Help Me Build 12 Monitor System

I have one computer driving 8 x Viewsonic 24-inch display. One side a 2x3 grid (on my left) and the other side 1x2 (on my right). Looking back, 24-inch is a bit bulky. If I were to do it over again I would pick a 22-inch instead. Especially each monitor has its own plastic frame around...

    Anyone Use Magic Jack?

What do you want to do? Have a backup phone line? Or have a backup internet connection? If it is a backup internet connection, as that seemed to be what the OP wanted back in Feb 2011, it seems to be cumbersome. You would need to have a 56k modem (many new laptop don't include the RJ11...

Please Help Me Build 12 Monitor System

I think the idea of having multiple monitors is that they would provide all the information you need to look at during the trading session. User interaction (mouse, keyboard) is mimimal. Indeed it is hard to draw trendlines on all charts spreading over 12 monitors. To help: 1) use a big...

Please Help Me Build 12 Monitor System

kevinqc: Have you determined what processor you want to use? The board I have is only for i7-930/950, socket LGA 1366. If you want to use the faster processors, such as i7-2600k or even i7-2700k, they use different sockets.

Please Help Me Build 12 Monitor System

Yeah I have one of those. Motherboard is MSI Bigbang Xpower. While it has 6 x PCIe x16, I couldn't get the fifth dual video card to work. Only 4 of them. I have given up on spending time on it. Right now I use 4 dual card to drive 8 monitors, and added 4 Tritton UV200 USB-to-DVI adapter to...

PLEASE HELP: Need advice on these monitors for trading

I don't feel eye soreness either way. I have over 20 monitors in my trading room. I think the key is how you set up your chart environment. I use dim background (black actually) and bright, primary color charting display. I see many people use white background (very well be the default of...

PLEASE HELP: Need advice on these monitors for trading

Try searching for some adapter mouting brackets. They make some for non-VESA Dell monitors. There is a good chance they make some for non-VESA HP monitors as well. Put in your HP monitor model number plus "VESA mounting brackets" in Google.

PLEASE HELP: Need advice on these monitors for trading

IMO, 1920x1200 is nice. But not worth spending $400 more for it (or for them). With the added 120 lines, you can display a few more rows of price data, or a bigger space for indicators (or have more indicators). I have tried a 26" monitor but in the end returned it. Too huge (taking up my...
