John Carter course for the eminis

Carter is one of the better educator in my opinion. With that said, I personally think the course is a little pricey but if you have the money and prefer hand holding, you probably can't do much worse. His book and many webinars available free online are a better value for the DIYers.

Anyone going to the NY Trader Expo?

I sat in on his Systems Building talk. His discussion on determining stop loss based on the 4 parameters plus the offsetting betas seemed fairly rigid. I keep wondering how good his real world results would be. Then again, it must be good if he was "humbled" by his results :)

Anyone going to the NY Trader Expo?

Really debating on this one. Initially I wanted to see what the panelists had to say about exchange routing but probably don't want to give up a trading day. Anyone have anything good to say about Bowles' Risk/Reward on Oil and Gas?

Anyone going to the NY Trader Expo?

Are you kidding me? I walked out after 15 minutes. They touted that they didn't use TA or fundamentals. Pay their subscriptions fee, log in and trade their picks to get rich. Same thing with NetPicks. Walked out after they started talking about the ownership membership. One indicator and...

    best tax accounting service

edaytraderstax is new to me. I'm familiar with the other two. I went with green's online $99 package. It comes with his book and online access to example tax returns. It's a great value since it's enough for me to do my own taxes without assistance. Combine that with Quickens Home and...

Will trade for food-reminiscense of an unwanted trader

Why work for someone else? You can open up a mini hedge fund and trade friends and family's money. If you really can generate great returns, in a couple of years you should have enough of a capital base to market yourself for retail money.

$5000 day, Is that what you would consider a good day?

$5k is an outstanding day by any measure. If you could average that over a full year, you taking in $1.25 million. If $5k is one of your best days, but say you average $1k-2k per day, then you averaging about $250k to $500k a year. It would put you in the top 5-10% of traders.

    Entity for traders

As an S corp, you must pay a salary hence the SE tax. Futures are taxed at an effective 23% rate if you file as a sole propietor. If you put your proceeds through the corporate wringer, it should come out to a higher rate. If someone who has done this already and has a real world example...

    Entity for traders

I have a S corp for consulting. Was ready to trade with it and had my IB institution account approved but decided that the extra SE tax would be too burdensome. Since I only trade futures, doing Corp would only add to the tax burden. But it's my first year so I will need to re-evaluate in...

    ButtonTrader Multi-Account trading

Anyone have experience with ButtonTrader multi account trading? I'm thinking of trading my IRA account. For now, I want single strategy single click execution for both my accounts. How's well does the actual execution work? Any glitches?

    QM volume

CL definitely has the most mojo of the major future markets. I thought the er2 had some juice but clearly the CL is in a different league.

    QM volume

I just checked the CL and it looks like where the action is at. One thing, IB has much lower margin requirements for QM.

    When will Ford go bankrupt?

Only reason why the Taurus was a "top seller" was because it had a monopoly as a fleet car. Otherwise, it was a crappy car. Remember the oval design?

    TradeTheMarket 62% return in January

The 62% is calculated in the video when he goes over his PnL.

    TradeTheMarket 62% return in January

He addresses this in the videos. He says if you're a newbie, stick with the small size. Otherwise if you're an experienced trader, trade larger. I do have some issues with trading such large size especially since he's teaching his assistants. It does seem kamikaze. He could accomplish...

    TradeTheMarket 62% return in January

Some very interesting commentary. The implied accusation is that the 62% return that they generated could quite possibly be fabricated. If so, the likelihood is that they could continue to lie if/when the assistants fail at trading, Carter will feel the need to "prop" up their results to...

    TradeTheMarket 62% return in January

I had read that original thread. One of the reasons why I decided not to pay for his services. But I do read his nightly free newsletter with interest. In addition, I bought his book which has GOOD advice, about as good as any other source on trading the index futures. With that said, I...

    TradeTheMarket 62% return in January

John Carter, about a month, decided that he wanted to teach his assistants how to trade. Eventually the assistants would compete heads up to see who is the better trader. Winner gets a real trading account to trade. He just posted results in his free email newsletter. It's pretty great...

    When will Ford go bankrupt?

My question is why do the styling of the Detriot Three manufacturers suck so much? German and Japanese styling have always led. Nowadays, Japanese cars still lead in least number of defects but modern engineering has pretty much closed the gap. It's styling that will determine who sells the...
