Even tech workers say AI is overrated!!!

Useless? Slidebean seems to differ. Says it can get to 90% of same output as humans. Granted, it looks like he may be selling something but the question is where the final output rates from useless to 90%. I'm guessing closer to 90%. But be interesting to see an objective 3rd party evaluation.

One of the narrowest market rallies in 50 + years!!!! Just 7 stocks

There is a difference between dotcom 2000 frenzy versus today. Dotcom frenzy was driven by the possible potential of the Internet. Twenty years later, that potential has been realized. - Google search has massive profits, $280 billion revenue of which $163 billion is search ads. - Meta ad...

    CZ in jail

I'm not getting why Zhao would be paying out $4.3 billion if he had to do any time. Steven Cohen paid out $1.8 billion, pleaded guilty to insider trading, was forced to turn hedge fund into family owned fund but did not serve any time. The other factor is that Zhao could have just stayed out of...

Amazon to sell cars online, starting with Hyundai

Dude, I feel your pain. But I would prob take that over the now "required" tipping at some place. The entitlement!

Amazon to sell cars online, starting with Hyundai

Competition is fine if you are bringing added value. A car of the same make, model, color, etc should not be sold at a different price to one person who walked in the door than from the next person who walks in the door. There is no added value in the 2 cases, just predatory bias salesmenship...

The question is whether you want the same size product for an increased price or a smaller one for same price. Inflation happens. Just be glad we aren't in Argentina.

Amazon to sell cars online, starting with Hyundai

Please this analogy is fairly weak. If car dealership priced cars like supermarkets then term slimey salesmen would never have come about. Common household groceries products and gasoline station are extremely competitive. Walmart, within its store, doesn't have one sales guy trying to sell...

Really? I haven't had the opportunity to try out Tesla ordering. I will say that EVs could go the way of software. Basically you don't own the car, you are subscribing to it. Apple did something similar to the iPhone. Still it's better than playing games with MSRP with car salesmen. No reason...

Lol, you gotta take the good with bad. Let's just hope he doesn't go off on a Ted Kaczynski or Bobby Fischer tangent. Seemingly very intelligent people as they get older, going off the deep bend.

Amazon to sell cars online, starting with Hyundai

Test driving the car and getting a feel of the interior are important functions of a dealership but no one likes the hard upsell of slimey salesman. Tesla should pave the way and simply have online reservation in order to test drive cars at physical Tesla locations minus the salesmen pitch.

Amazon to sell cars online, starting with Hyundai

10 years? Woah that seems like a lifetime away. Things move so fast today. Tesla did open up auto showcase stores in malls for a while pre-pandemic. Not sure what more they could do with extending that model.

Thread for people who don't entirely understand Bitcoin

It's been 15 years since BTC came out. What is the REAL utility of the damn thing? I haven't seen anything. They kept trying to hype blockchain but still haven't seen the tech running anything significant. ETH and its programmable coin, we got dump monkey jpegs and a lot of idealistic fluster.

This is why Biden administration hates Tesla/Musk. They are too efficient. All the profits go to the company. The entire auto hierarchy aka dealerships and service centers will go under. That's a lot of jobs with blue collar voters.

Walmart, Costco and other companies rethink self-checkout

The main reason I shop at Sam's Club or BJ over Costco is because of the self checkout. Those lines get REAL long. Can't stand waiting in line. But I can sympathize with the theft, boils my blood when I see videos showing the rampant stealing. Perfect Amazon Go RFID shopping and put some...

Amazon to sell cars online, starting with Hyundai

Going direct would seem inevitable for all automakers since they have to combat the new gorilla in the room, Tesla. Tesla is more efficient in making cars aka gigacasting, more reliable with less maintenance aka no oils, only electrical which leads to higher margins. Plus add on top of that...

IronKey cracked but Stefan Thomas says No?!

I've been very critical of cryptocurrencies in the past. All the malarkey about empowering people and taking away the power from banks and institutions. Then it turns out you were just replacing one "ruling party" (banks, institutions) with another (crypto bros). The disadvantage being that the...

IronKey cracked but Stefan Thomas says No?!

The pains that Unciphered went through to figure out how to break the code is pretty sophisticated so not sure there are many groups if any that can do it. The CPU "shaving" sound crazy and way extreme. Plus they bought most of the remaining 2011 IronKey supplies. If taxes are the issue, just...

IronKey cracked but Stefan Thomas says No?!

What would Unciphered want? 50%? Thomas told them they could work with the others as a subcontractor. Tarnovsky hasn't made any progress. Unciphered doesn't think the only other group is capable of finding a solution so they aren't willing to negotiate.

IronKey cracked but Stefan Thomas says No?!

They Cracked the Code to a Locked USB Drive Worth $235 Million in Bitcoin. Then It Got Weird Stefan Thomas lost the password to an encrypted USB drive holding 7,002 bitcoins. One team of hackers believes they can unlock it—if they can get Thomas to let them. AT 9:30 AM on a Wednesday in late...
