weather there changes on a dime. from what I understand she was bailing out but the area she was at when she got in trouble was easily 5 or so hours to get below the alpine zone. Mt. Washington to the south recorded 231mph wind some 70 years back!

absolutely no joke in winter. I'd try with a guide only. we went end of July last year; 60s on the summits, no wind, unrestricted visibility.. just incredible. bloomberg had an excellent (though somewhat horrifying) piece about a trader who died up there...

ah.. the ole "dollars are meaningless / percent returns are everything" debate. which ends with folks like SIV not posting their PnLs for years. alternative directions this could go: (1) SIV states large account value, your response "meh" (2) SIV posts small value, your response, "too risky"...

I don't really have an opinion. You're betting on various fundamental factors outperforming. I have a bias toward large cap and value, but value hasn't performed well for the past several years. I'm also not sure as to how much turnover there is in these things. But good luck!

I think everyone has smart beta ETFs now. Blackrock, DFA, etc etc. Providers of smart beta ETFs. Beta providers.

You can just as easily buy these ETFs through any number of beta providers. Rob (Ron?) Arnott came out a few weeks ago and lambasted the strategy, calling it a crowded trade basically. "The only way for strategy to become successful is to go from expensive to really expensive."
