Could Bitcoin’s Price Reach $1,000,000? (ARK Invest)

So you're imagining a scenario where all other currencies cease to be used, including other crypto currencies? This makes sense how? You think they're going to start paying out social security benefits in bitcoin?

Could Bitcoin’s Price Reach $1,000,000? (ARK Invest)

Bitcoin has a market size problem. When your market is 10 people it's easily possible to grow that 10000%. Bitcoin has reached a size where if it does reach 1million there will be no room left to go up. Once it stops having a potential to go up at a rate faster than global GDP, people will...

If most ppl lose when they try to win $$, what happens when they "try" to lose $?

This is like saying "Most people lose when they play against a pro basketball player, so maybe they should try to lose and then they'll win." It's obviously silly nonsense.

Repeated foreign share transfer issues with IBKR

There is no solo fix for this. The problem is not on my end. Nor at the sending broker. IBKR just fails to match the transfer. Eventually it fails after a couple weeks, at which point I find out. Absolutely zero communication from IBKR prior indicating a problem with the transfer. They just...

Repeated foreign share transfer issues with IBKR

Reviving this thread as I still seem to be having issues. Does anyone know who I call besides first line tech support? I transfer a block or shares roughly once a month. Sometimes it works, sometimes IBKR drops the transfer on the floor after sitting on it for 2 weeks.

Who is currently the world's greatest stock trader?

Paul Pelosi. All sorts of excellently times trades despite managing a "blind" trust for his wife who just happens to have access to insider info. That's not even counting all the non-stock deals over his career that always seem to work out so well.

    Financial stability of Interactive Brokers

Simple. When you loan something to someone else, you might not get it back. That's something most of us figure out in grade school so I'm not sure why it's such a hard concept here. I don't think it's a very likely scenario with IBKR, but it's a basic possibility any time you loan something...

    Fundamental Analysis

I watched it. Not bad. I would suggest a follow up that gets into more detailed analysis and signs of trouble. You touch on that a bit but it would be interesting to hear your opinion on what to watch.

    Financial stability of Interactive Brokers

No. I'm just not going the pretend that anyone is always going to predict all market moves. Sometimes people get caught out. It's the nature of the business. It you were more thoughtful you might consider the possibility that I have a cash account, rather than calling me a liar. Again, the...

    Financial stability of Interactive Brokers

Somebody asked. The thing that sticks out with IBKR is their low margin rates. And that they quote rates up to a $3.5 million borrow amount. That would suggest to me that they have multiple clients borrowing at least 3.5 million. They seem to be specifically targeting customers who want to...

    Financial stability of Interactive Brokers

Sure. Whale client X has a margin account or has sold a stock short. A major event happens regarding that stock and suddenly that client's account has been wiped out. IBKR may be on the hook to cover any losses that were not covered by the assets in the client's account. Theoretically, IBKR...

    Financial stability of Interactive Brokers

The biggest fear might be if their large clients default. Per my understanding of exchange rules, ibkr would be on the hook to cover the default. I believe this is what Peterffy was talking about when he referred to the potential collapse of the system during the GameStop debacle. Given ibkr...

If you think the Fed will stop hiking, look at Bitcoin

The thing that is stupid is buying overpriced crap because "Don't worry it will come back someday" or "Don't worry it's a bundle of different crap." The notion that a whole market can't go to zero is provably false. Russia 1917. China 1949. Those weren't indexes that went down. Those were...

If you think the Fed will stop hiking, look at Bitcoin

The nikkei 225 still hasn't regained its peak from 1989. It also matters whether it's going to come back in your lifetime. It took what 25 years to come back from 1929? And that's just to get even. I imagine most people would like some return for tying up money for 25 years.

SVB is not a canary in the banking coal mine

Everything is not fine. 1) European banks are a disaster waiting to happen. If they do go down that could affect US firms that do business with them. A lot of those big shaky Euro banks are even fed primary dealers, NYSE members, COMEX members, etc. You might have counterparty risk with a...

Block shares going down like Hindenburg

IMO, it seems pretty clear that his previous venture played fast and loose with user numbers. I wouldn't bet on him being honest this time based on something so trivially easy to rig. It's not like you can stand outside a few randomly selected brick and mortar stores and count foot traffic...

Block shares going down like Hindenburg

It's easy to post "revenue growth" when you're losing money, either via selling something below cost, or via outright fraud. Theoretically a company could make their "revenue" any number they want it to be by just circulating the same money through the system over and over again. Those numbers...

Block shares going down like Hindenburg

With negative earnings per share, is that a good thing? It's not just a question of if people use your service, but also if you make money providing it.
