Market Profile -- who needs it?

Maverick, I don't know what you were expecting from a post on this forum. I could be very specific about my trading methodology, but that wasn't the point. Checkout some of my posts at www.traderslaboratory.com.

Market Profile -- who needs it?

I think you are doing yourself a disservice by passing over Market Profile because new traders in a chatroom couldn't make it work. Let's face it, few successful traders actually hang out in chatrooms. Anyway, I do agree that it takes time to really learn Market Profile, but anything worth...

    "Scaling out" is inferior behavior

The book Smarter Trading by Perry Kaufman devotes an entire chapter on Profit-Taking (Scaling Out). Below is an excerpt from the book, which I recommend. The following are some strong arguments for profit-taking: Profit-taking has smaller slippage, because trades are closed out when...

    Tradestation: a Basic Crossover Strategy

If you buy at the open, wouldn't you be buying before the crossover occurred? You would be looking into the future. I believe you can "buy this bar at close" or "next bar on open", but not "this bar on open".

    DRT's Currency Trades

DRT, Thanks again for your thorough response. Very helpful. As I said before, I appreciate your straight-forward responses about your trading, something seen quite infrequently on this forum, IMO. Wish you continued success with your trading!

    DRT's Currency Trades

Hi DRT, Been following your thread with much interest. Thanks for sharing and for being so open on this thread and others! I trade the CME currency futures as well, primarily the Euro, using Market Profile to identify market condition and key reference areas. I would appreciate it if you...

70% winning break out system for ES

es175, Regarding question 1, "High[1]" refers to the previous bar's high. "HighD(1)" refers to yesterday's high. My comment in the code was not accurate. Thanks for pointing it out.

    Market Profile Discussion

Hi 5Pillars, Dandxg is correct if I understand him correctly. A Market Profile and a Volume Profile can generate substantially different value areas, especially in a directional market. Below is an excerpt regarding this issue from the Cisco-Futures website: "Recent research at CISCO has...

    card counting and scalping

Hi-Lo is perhaps the easiest card counting system to learn and play in real-time, but it is good enough to beat the casino in the right game. These days, beating the multi-deck game is tough! IMO, I think it's a much tougher game then trading profitably. The more complex systems, like the...

    card counting and scalping

Although there are many systems for counting cards in Blackjack, such as assigning different values to each card and counting aces separately, an important consideration when choosing a system, is that whichever system you use, you must play it perfectly. The edge derived from card counting is...

70% winning break out system for ES

Here you go Piggie. This strategy should work on intraday bars. By the way, DayOfWeekFix() seems to be a modified version of DayOfWeek(). HighD(1) is the high of one day ago (i.e., yesterday's high), similar for LowD(1). // declare variables for highest high, lowest low, and target //...

    Highlighting Text in Tradestation

Hi All, I'm in the process of creating the Market Delta "footprint" in Tradestation and have a basic question. Please refer to the example in the attachment. I would like to highlight the bid/ask text with different color gradients as opposed to changing the color of the text itself as I'm...

    linda B

niceneasy, Good post. I agree with you completely. However, my suggestion to bigbrent was to pay $85 for a one month subscription to get all of Linda's class transcripts, make copies and read them at his leisure - definitely worth the money. New traders would do well heeding your advice...

niceneasy, How do you propose someone prepare themself for trading? What are you willing to pay for in order to get a trading education? Serious question.

    linda B

bigbrent, Subscribe to Raschke's Basic service for one month and access all of her class transcripts. Her methodology is all there and will keep you busy for a few months. Really good stuff, IMO, and all for 85 bucks or so. Good Luck!

What day of the week is best?

I should have mentioned that I don't use the LSS method from Angell, but I do use the Taylor Technique similar to the way Raschke uses it. Lots of details at her site.

What day of the week is best?

The "Taylor Trading Technique" describes the "swing cycle" you mentioned and refers to them as buy days, sell days, and sell short days. This is not a fixed cycle and varies depending on whether you are in a trend or not. Sometimes you have to sync up with cycle so I wouldn't trade it as a...
