    micro/mini fungibility question

I was hoping they would automatically 'collapse' offsetting positions into a net +5 micro position. From the comments here it appears that's not the case.

    micro/mini fungibility question

In my IBKR account if I currently have a position of short 5 Nasdaq Micro contracts and then I bought an EMini Nasdaq would I automatically end up with a position of Long 5 Micros? I suppose I could try it but thought I'd ask initially.

Crypto investing vs. ETF option trading

In fact that is what I am doing. Allocating about 10% of the account to puts/calls. Compared to buy-and-hope crypto, this is a real strategy and it is proactive.

Crypto investing vs. ETF option trading

Ive been trading ETF options (simple leveraged directional bets) in my HSA account. They are great instruments for an account that has yearly contribution limits and you want to grow it in a hurry. I would not go 100% though for the risk of ruin

Archegos Founder Bill Hwang Hit With Criminal Charges

Wow. Given the $ amounts in this case I wonder what the sentencing will be. I am guessing he will be locked up for many years.

Those that started small and trading big now, how was the process in terms of psychology & emotions?

Years ago I used to get scared of $1k daily swings in my portfolio. Last fall through first quarter I witnessed my PNL be up or down 6 figures on certain days. I was miserable and was constantly in a bad mood (apologies to my wife and kids!). I am past that now I am de-sensitized to the bigger $...

    Swing Trading Vertical Spreads

Interesting. Which type of treasury spreads do you do? 30's vs 10's type of spreads?

    Buying after bad earnings

I've been interested in backtesting this type of strategy (post earnings drift). I had backtested such things in past years when Yahoo made that available for free. I screen scraped and had a big database. But the quality was highly questionable. If anybody knows a reasonably priced historical...

Schwab liquidated my futures position instead of rolling

Seems like Schwab was providing a non-standard add-on service for your account. No broker or FCM that I've ever traded at 'auto-rolled' for me. Only liquidation.

pandas too slow for event driven backtesting

looks like you might gain speed by vectorizing your code if at all possible. I avoid loops in python.

I have been thinking about using the Amibroker/Norgate combo for some new ideas I have - looks good.

Bill Ackman Pershing Square Historical Performance

Most of these guys are correlated to the stock market. If they have market beating returns then its a result of concentrated beta or leverage. Of course there are other asset class hedge funds like fixed income, distressed debt, quant etc but the returns are low, like dead money post tax. From...

We've seen the bottom, up from here

there's no reason this bear cannot be followed by a 14 year long sideways market like we had from 1966 to 1980!

Starting a CTA - is this a good business at all?

Unless you have more than $10M under management the regulatory burden is not worth it. That's mainly why I closed my CTA years ago.

The BTC 5-year chart is eerily similar to the Nasdaq of early 2000's.

here's a log scale chart of BTC from its inception. Doesn't look too bad to me.

    1969/$200 000 - 1980/$381M - Soros

He had a compounded growth rate of more than 30% for 3 decades. Many of those years were triple digit years. He was a badass risk taker and very aggressive trader. Most people do not know his trading/risk-taking persona.

Goldman Says Manchin Just Damaged the U.S. Outlook

Goldman obviously has an agenda here. They downgraded the US growth outlook about an hour after Manchin made his announcement - on a Sunday. And Psaki was at her podium all furious today. Predictably, she cited the GS revised outlook. It has become a total farce and a bit surreal. She's still...
