    Poor Fills on Firstrade

I'm going to answer...But I may be wrong. The market makers "make" the market many times. They see your limit order coming and jump in front of you. They move the market to their advantage...It seems illegal, but they can (and do) this. They have tried to get congress to intervene, but it...

    Poor Fills on Firstrade

I've shared this before...Disregard if you've read it before. I'm a light trader in options (covered calls/puts, manual). With options, Fidelity will let me route. If it's a heavy traded option (think Apple), I will go with their route...PFOF, hoping for price improvement. If it's lightly...

Many users report Charles Schwab, Fidelity Investments and TD Ameritrade are down

I woke up at 10am this morning (California time). Let's see what the market is doing?? Oh, down quite a bit...Cool. Yeah, I lost $15-20,000. on paper today...But those covered calls probably won't get called away (Apple, Coke, Micron). If I don't look at the market for a week, I am fine with...

Cabin's journal of buys, sells, and covered calls...

Another quick covered call. We have 100 shares of Coke (KO) at Schwab. Sell to open June 25 $75. We got $1.62 ($162.) for the option. Good dividend and option money flowing. If it gets called away...I'll wait a few months then buy another 100 shares. I also own 100 shares in a Roth IRA...

Doing a covered call...Is this just a fear tactic to create PFOF??

With Fidelity?? Can you prove it?? Fidelity does not place their options into markets unless they get a match...It sits on their desk. With a market bid/ask everyone sees where you stand...And can respond (or not). With Fidelity and stocks, they will send it to market (unless they already...

Doing a covered call...Is this just a fear tactic to create PFOF??

So I just do covered calls mostly on boring stable companies...Cash flow. I don't want to get into which option is better...This or that. Below is what Fidelity has me OK before I enter a directed order. I see nothing strange about entering through an exchange vs Fidelity. Fidelity always...

IBM and the use of AI...

I own 100 shares of IBM...Boring and stable. Just how I roll, what I like (mature industry leaders). Their earnings came out good...Which is nice. I love the little (or big) thing they announced. I will try and get this concept correct if I can. They will be instructing companies how to use...

Post some TRADING PRINCIPLES that might help others (Not TA or systems)

Historical, but may help you spot future red flags... Again for INVESTING, knowing a balance sheet is very important... A company with large debt (when rates are near zero), is so much different than at seven to ten percent... Just my thoughts...

Post some TRADING PRINCIPLES that might help others (Not TA or systems)

Investor here...Will only speak on that (yeah, do covered calls, but not much else in options). Learn to read a balance sheet!! Go to a junior college/community college and take Accounting 101 or 1A...It will pay for itself over time!! Look at pension obligations, liability, common sense...

Bought back 2 options on Zion Bank ZION at $50. Bought them back for $55. each. The stock was over $50. this morning...I put in my price, then went back to sleep (California). I picked it up (could have got it cheaper)...Just didn't want it called away. It expires tomorrow...I'll wait and...

very confused about deferred loss when it is harvested?

I don't know if this will help. If you are continually trading the same symbol, you have signed an agreement with your broker. Most will have you sign (agree) that you will use FIFO for your pairing...First in first out (you can look it up). You can request to have it another way....They...

market manipulation is there really difference?

A rabbit hole I know!! Pump and dump You have a biotech company that has come out with a third phase trial for cancer. The FDA has questions about the trial. Say the stock is trading between $10-$20. a share...Bleeding money. Is it a pump and dump or billion a dollar company?? My mind goes...

Basic beginner questions like paper trading

The problem with SIM is they are not real and do not reflect how the market works. It gives you a poor idea of bid/ask. Your fills will NOT be real...Which will give you false idea of how the markets function. Yes, find and run the sims if you wish...But study dark pools and market makers...
