    I like Cramer...

Have you guys noticed lately that people have stopped jumping on the cramer bandwagon. His recs don't go up as much the next day. To wit: He strongly recommended Broadcom a few days ago but the stock opened lower and closed lower than the previous day's close. Usually his recs gap up quite a...

    Predicting randomness

Predicting randomess may be an exercise in futility. How do you explain a stock that reports earnings, is up 5% in after hours trading, is up 6% in pre-market hours trading the next day and closes the day down more than 4% If a simple occurrence such as this does not lend itself to any measure...

    Interactive Brokers

First most firms extend the time period to afterhours trading ending at 8 PM eastern time to bring your money used for the day to a figure lower than your overnight buying power. I currently am using one as an example. This is a huge plus. Addressing your statement about my still being in a...

    Interactive Brokers

IB imposes the 10 minute rule. If they reduced it to 3 or 5 minutes it would worsen the situation. As regards your question relating to why I need 10 minutes all I can say is it gives you valuable time to bring back your money used for the day to a figure less than your overnight buying power in...

    Interactive Brokers

I've been actively shopping around for brokers. IB, at least on this site seems to have the highest ratings. The most common knock against them seems to be their customer service. However, most of the posts are fairly old. Does anybody know if these guys are still as good as everybody says they...

Entering or exiting a position while holding large sizes

Freealways, I don't think you're getting the point here. Most of the bids and offers are really small 100 to 500 shares and all at different prices. In order to fill a large order I'll probably have to hit on average 10 to 15 of these small lots. Imagine what my cost price is going to be after...

Entering or exiting a position while holding large sizes

Toonces, Thank you. This is probably what I'm looking for. Can you name any firms? I would really appreciate it. As mentioned earlier my firm offers hidden orders exclusively on Island. The order is not posted on Level II and is only filled if there is an existing matching order in the island...

Entering or exiting a position while holding large sizes

H2O, Thanks for your suggestion. The brokerage I use only offers hidden orders on Island. It also gets a lower priority in relation to market and limit orders i.e. market, limit and then hidden on island. I did try hidden on island and did not get filled.

Entering or exiting a position while holding large sizes

I've started actively daytrading since January of this year. I have a problem trying to exit and enter positions while holding large share sizes. I find others increasing their bid price over mine and decreasing offers. I find this extremely frustrating and am probably doing something wrong. Any...
