    The Problem with Equities

I guess you lost me at what "all the equity prop firms say". No one told me such a thing, and in fact, they say different things each year as their winning traders stop being winning and a new crop of winning traders rolls in.

I have another fine-dining experience to suggest to you, and this may be more representative of Manhattan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=su0U37w2tws

    You are not that special

I disagree. I am special. This guy is just jealous.

Can anyone at IB tell us when native NYSE hidden orders will be supported?

I think they should support some major order types, but man, you have no idea how many crazy order options there are for each different exchange. You can't fault them for being choosy, because they'd have to pay some guy to add some obscure order and then if they focus on all these obscure...

Direct Access Brokers that will not sell your Order Flow to HFT

(hold for a few days and cross the spread, that is.)

Direct Access Brokers that will not sell your Order Flow to HFT

If IB internalized my fills for close to free (commission wise), I would be extremely happy. If IB charged me, say, .0010 per share to take my flow for a remove, I would save a lot of money -- and I am not what they consider toxic flow because, on IB, I hold positions for a few days.

What are the most professional automated trading platforms ?

Nothing you say is incorrect, but I think sometimes platforms have problems that can become very, very limiting. The worst part is that you don't know how limiting they can be until you've already spent several months working with them.

Hey, glad to see you posting again. Win or lose, you're still inspirational.

Getco cuts staff with trading volumes thin [Financial Times]

Technology is generally only paid for once, though. While speed matters, the incremental improvements in speed just won't be paid for anymore. The fixed cost coming from the labor (the programmers) are what will no longer be sustainable. You can't pay guys 400-500k for 2 more microseconds...

    Nice down move in Gold

I, unfortunately, own gold. Why is the dollar going up? I saw the run up after the fed's comments and figured that would hold, only to see it fall. I'm just speculating here, but it always feels like gold goes down with everything else when things are bad, then when people look like they...

HFT MMs vs HFT Liquidity Seeking Algorithms

I'm hoping someone who has access to super fast hardware can answer this question, because with my technology I can't tell what's happening. I tend to put my exits around a fair value and move a passive order around the price as needed. Occasionally (maybe 15% of the time) my feeds and...

    Do you even enjoy trading?

I am like this. I suppose I come across as an angry, hateful person but I love every minute of every trade. Don't mistake the intensity for perpetual anger/sadness, it's just that the business is about eeking out every last tick, and that intensity sometimes leaks out in various ways that...

    How Realistic? $50k account, $500 / day

If you can get 20x leverage on 50k and have a small diversified portfolio of trading strategies, you can do $500/day; however, you will need a prop fee structure, some speed, and the emotions of a robot -- or an actual robot trading your money.

Nitro, this is an old post, but, is this Chicago tickerplant thing for NxCore still true (in 2012) ? I guess I'm going to have to call these guys.

    Lower Latency Feed than IQFeed

I don't use a retail broker, although you could consider my setup not much better than a retail broker. I still, however, use IQFeed because the data it provides is more than my execution platform provides, or any other feed components that I've seen. IQ has the best value for the dollar in...

    Lower Latency Feed than IQFeed

Apparently, WinstonTJ is the man. What are people paying for NxCore? There's another thread on the forum about this, where they say $1000 setup, +$1800/mo for equities. But in that thread, they mention options.

    Lower Latency Feed than IQFeed

I had some problems with ActiveTick. I sent their support some e-mails, didn't get an answer in a reasonable amount of time, and so I gave up on them. Other people claim to have had better luck, but I do not think this is the product for me.

    Lower Latency Feed than IQFeed

Colo less of a problem than the right feed service. I can borrow unused colocation capacity from a friend for a short fee, but what I can't do is get access to the market data I need for the right price. Basically, finding a low latency version of IQFeed is the big problem. In fact, if DTN...

    Lower Latency Feed than IQFeed

The only feeds that matter to me all have matching engines and feed servers in New Jersey. NASDAQ, DirectEdge, BATS, NYSE, ARCA are all in NJ.

    Lower Latency Feed than IQFeed

I'm not sure what I want is real either, at least at a price point that makes sense for what I'm doing. I basically need top of book quotes + trades for the major exchanges with someone who has a server somewhere near/around the major colocation facilities in New Jersey, 5-10ms (average) is...
