    Swing Trading QQQ

Ok, another philosophical question for you then... :D Why not just short the mini NQ futures? Smaller size bet, longer term? (Only asking because you seem to normally trade several lots, so adjusting size with futures shouldn't be an issue). Feel free to tell me to mind my own business :D

    Swing trader ….. $9K to $80M in 8 years

My bad, I missed your quotation marks. My point was that it's very unlikely he got that loss as some form of extreme drawdown in his system and that most likely he overrode his own risk management (1% loss per trade), i.e. that he doubled down on some losing position(s).

    Swing trader ….. $9K to $80M in 8 years

Most people who blow up do so doubling down on losing positions. Doubling down of course works great on mean-reverting markets, improves your % of winning trades, makes it easy to argue that you were just a bit early because you're smarter than everyone else ... It's the desire to be right, to...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

I really hope - no irony here - that you're making hay while the sun is shining. Nothing (good or bad) lasts forever.

What's the maximum amount of leverage a trader should use?

You also have to consider short/long term, the type of strategy (and expected drawdowns), number of non-correlated strategies being deployed and the ATR. X4 may be good for funds using long-term trend-following strategies. For retail intra-day traders, as a *maximum*, it seems a bit low, IMHO.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

I guess it depends on your timeframe (and instrument), but I'd say we're in a short term correction or a downtrend, depending on your optics. Either way the beauty is people disagree, otherwise who would take the other side of any trade?

    USD/JPY to the Moon

I'm agnostic as to whether we break 160 or not, but I'd be surprised - and even disappointed - if we didn't see a retest. But hey, I'm just a punk.

So now, 95% chance we revisit 160 to see if their powder is still dry.

    USD/JPY to the Moon

It's gonna be hard to get it to turn around, but IMHO, when it does the unwinding of long USD is going to be epic. Of course nobody, or at least, not me, knows how much higher this will get.

    Cocoa futures

I doubt it's any consolation to you, but I've had a similar situation lately with USDJPY :D Now I think how much I would have made IF ONLY I HAD FOLLOWED THE TREND and it makes me want to pull my hair...

A big rally by Monday close?

OK, place your bets (you may already have) :D (I'm inclined to think today we stay flat-ish, but my charts say short term we go down a bit until tomorrow or Friday we get some market-moving numbers/news - Meta earnings today, Google and IBM tomorrow, also GDP, PCE, etc.) How about we move the...

A big rally by Monday close?

Disappointing for bulls, indeed. I saw the small gap open last night and I thought it would have some follow-through, at least in the first half of the session, but no, meh ... Plenty of corporate results this week.

A big rally by Monday close?

I'll be looking for a long too (probably bigger than 1%), but do keep in mind that the Asian session might be a bloodbath while it digests last Friday's US session. Or not, what do I know :D

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Buying dips is probably the single best strategy in the stock market. Great in bull markets, good in lateral markets, ok-ish in bear markets. The problem is not buying the dip, the problem is believing there is zero risk, that you don't need a stop, that you can average down losers, etc. and...
