    Beautiful ES slam-dunk trade

Yeah, I guess that would make sense if I were posting that as a trade I took or trying to prove a theory. I was just contributing to the forum... which I'm starting to think is a waste of time.

    Discussing trading with friends

I just tell em' that there's plenty of info on my blog... when I tell people I day trade, their first reaction is "eeew, I'm so sorry... you must have lost your ass in this market." I can't help but smile

    Beautiful ES slam-dunk trade

Whatever works for you... Think of the market as a movie. It doesn't matter if you're using tick or minute charts, it's still the same movie. The only difference is the perspective you're viewing it from. For example, minute charts are like watching a movie on a regular screen, where...

    Beautiful ES slam-dunk trade

You're missing the point. Yes, I see h&s all over the place. I wasn't "cherry-picking", just pointing out how clear that pattern was and the result. And actually, I use as high as 10,946 tick charts... I don't use them to actually take my trades off of, but they help for longer term...

I bet the best traders on ET do this...

Good point... a lot of traders get hung up on winning %. They forget 1 key metric- risk/reward or average net trade. I'd take a system with a 50% win ratio and a 1/3 risk/reward ratio over a 80% win ratio with a 5/1 risk ratio... I was unprofitable for the first 5 years of trading... It...

    Beautiful ES slam-dunk trade

This was something pretty sweet that I noticed on the S&P Emini (ES) yesterday... I took the first two pictures at the close of market yesterday. Notice the beautiful head and shoulders on the 2584 tick chart. The target for for me was around 903-905. I don't trade pre-market or...

If edge is hard to get, why traders keep trading?

Good point... And the sad thing is, you can give 100 traders a strategy that has a great edge, and 95 of them will still screw it up... Step 1- Find an edge Step 2- Execute on that edge Most people never even get step one right. Those that do rarely ever get step 2 b/c of...

help! cannot sleep well -- wake up too early...

What do you do besides trading? Get a hobby or something... trading should give you the lifestyle you want, not become your lifestyle. My 2 cents...

    why scale out

Care to share? I'm curious how ANY money management principle can benefit a "losing" system...

I bet the best traders on ET do this...

I wrote this assuming that was a given... I agree 100%, if you don't have a winning edge and a proper money management structure, then you might as well pack it up... The problem is that most people never stop looking for the perfect system and realize it's just a probabilities game...

I bet the best traders on ET do this...

Good point... I think money management is tied in directly with psychology. If a trader hold a position too long because he's letting greed make his decisions, or if he closes to soon because of the fear of giving money back, that's mismanagement caused by psychology... If someone can...

I bet the best traders on ET do this...

I Don't expect it... after all, 90%+ traders lose money, right? So, why would I want the herd to agree with me? :D

How do you catch falling knives?

I don't consider entering on pull-backs with the trend to be "reversal trading"... in my opinion, that's "trend-trading" or trading "with momentum". Here's the ES and my example of: Trend trading- http://www.screencast.com/t/Sgg1a0xi4 Reversal trading-...

how long does it take the average rookie to realize he is being ground up ?

Yeah, he said they usually stop funding after 3-4 times... kinda like running home with the tail tucked between the legs saying, "You can't make money in trading... it's a scam!" He also said they blow the account out quicker each time... shows you that skill is just a small part of...

I bet the best traders on ET do this...

I agree with most of that... However, I have some issues with IF, THEN systems... you can only go so far with a fully automated system. The market is dynamic and always changing... Personally, my results are waaaaay better with a "structure" that leaves me open to think, than something that...
