Buy and Hold SP500 Not A Good Idea Afterall....

Who looks at Buy and Hold over a 10-year period, unless you accept a good chance of losing money? Do a Monte Carlo analysis. If you get up to 20-25 years, then maybe you have to agree that buy and hold the SPY would come out ahead -- most of the time. My recommendation if you just want to...

    Short CAD now! 2/17/09 8:40pm

You have a tight range that has been forming for weeks, possibly a pennant; it could break one way or the other soon, but I doubt oil sands exports is gonna do it. I know there are some CAD pulls out there like Gartman who think it will head back to parity this year, even. But take a look at...

FX traders...are you ready for "Stimulus" SOARS/TANKS?

If you mean the dollar will tank across the board I wouldn't count on it. A lot has been baked in.

There Is No Hope Left: Listen to Bernanke's Answers To Ron Paul's Questions Yesterday

I figured that; I just thought we had a poet among us, for a second there.

Cramer wants sec to ban Ultra short etfs

Put a warning like they have on cigarette packs on them. Holding for more than a day can do long-term portfolio damage and even death or something like that. Same thing for the futures ETFs that have to deal with big rolls because of contango.

Cramer wants sec to ban Ultra short etfs

Yeah, Kudlow, Mr. Free (but let's bail out the investment banks) Market. Ron Paul I can at least respect, Kudlow just another Republican hypocrite.

Cramer wants sec to ban Ultra short etfs

I admit that most retail investors will get, eventually, stomped by the leveraged ETFs (long and short) and MFs. Perhaps the SEC should demand more disclosure. I would hate to see the 2x and 3Xers and ultras disappear, though, because if you can get your hands on short shares they have been easy...

Who was using the Wall Street Madam?

I know a bit about this business (from my former life as a NYC journo). You would be surprised how 90% of the high-end girls really aren't that great looking. (You wouldn't pay $2K unless that is what you earned an hour, 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year.) Their main attraction is their...

Who was using the Wall Street Madam?

Another reason not to bail out the banks. Do Chapter 11 and be done with, ok? Jeeze!

Brother, Florida Is Slipping Into A Depression

I'm in Boca in a gated community (when I'm not in Sydney); that's the Florida I know. Even in Boca, you want the gate.

Brother, Florida Is Slipping Into A Depression

This has been going on cyclically for at least 50 years. Banks, when money is loose, lend money to fools for hyped up assets; the banks know they aren't going to get the money back, and they accept that and plan to either someday take back the house (and do it all over again) or they lay off the...

Brother, Florida Is Slipping Into A Depression

I got two I'll unload, but they are in a gated country club community in Boca Raton, and you may have to add a digit or so to the price (to the left of the decimal). But still ... a bargain. Great bagels nearby, too!

Brother, Florida Is Slipping Into A Depression

Yeah, seriously, jacking people up on sugar and trans fats is lunacy, especially when there is all that fruit growing in Florida, a lot of it free for the picking. Hell, you could go pick some trees in that neighborhood and get more nutrition than that crap. Typical of America.

What's is the best way to hedge Wyeth/Pfizer deal with options?

It does and it conforms my suspicions; you got to a take the risk if you want the spread. Thanks. For financing, though I wonder if long WYE Deep ITM calls make more sense than long stock ... and, possibly, conversely long deep ITM Pfizer puts?

What's is the best way to hedge Wyeth/Pfizer deal with options?

I'm not sure what the advantage would be, to be honest.
