    my rimm synthetic call

Managing the synthetic is a lot more complex than posters on this board would have you believe. For example once you've set up your married put (long stock plus long put, aka synthetic call) which, incidentally, can be legged rather than placed as a package, the fun starts. You can sell a call...

    my rimm synthetic call

I think the point spin is making is that simply buying the call is the same as buying the stock plus put combination. I'm not sure if you're aware of the synthetic relationship. db

Best option strategy for buying stockmarket panics

In case you were confused by atticus' post, long atm cals benefit from rising vol whereas short cals benefit from falling vols. The closer to expiry you are with the short leg of the long (debit) cal the more expensive the cal debit will be and thus the higher your risk. db

What Option Strategies would you use in a Run Away Market ?

Hi kevinqc, I'm going to post some comments below and hope they will help you in understanding your suggested positions. 'Credit put spread sounds good but has a very limited profit potential.' A: A credit put vertical is the same as a debit call vertical and, yes, they have limited...

    day7793 read please

CC5, I think you're missing commiebat's point. He would be thrilled to make $2k a month on a $10k account - that represents a 20% a month return. The only difference is in how you make the $2k. You can either do it by 'earning' it in a job (very very very low risk) or try making it by trading...

    lost beginner

No offence Lar but $90 a significant cost??? Come on, get serious. You'll find Cottle's book (OTTHR) won't be covering the same ground as the others - I'm sure you'll find it stimulating (and challenging). Cheers db

    Options on ASX (Australian) stocks?

Hobo take nravo's advice. Aussie options are pretty illiquid except for about 10 companies and even these are pretty illiquid unless close to the money and front month. I do trade them because I live here (australia) but mostly trade US options for obvious reasons. But I do have the currency...

    ROLL an option

I'm sorry but I disagree. One doesn't have to know everything, as a matter of fact it's impossible to know everything about options. However, one does have to know everything that is IMPORTANT in regards to one's option trading strategies if one wants to be consistently profitable. If all you...

    Long BA

Hi and welcome to ET Have a look at the impl volatility graph (ivolatility.com) and see where iv currently sits. If it's in the lower 20% of the one year iv range then you could just buy a straight option. If it's higher then buy/sell the spread. Then of course you need to decide which...
